Good First Pistol?

I plan on buying my very first pistol pretty soon and have little idea of what i want. I kinda want something easy to shoot, accurate yet requiring minimal ammo to stop something/someone. Reliable is a must! I was looking at a few but really haven't even seen a pistol in about 3 years (stationed overseas) nor have I kept up with whats out there so, i dont know whats good or not. thanks!

Seems like I read something about a year ago on a pistol that was so ergonomic that as soon as you pointed it it was always straight... i am not a bad shot but would like something that i wouldnt have to fumble around with too much i time of need! Make any sense?

 

i have been looking at smith and wesson M&P .40 cal its a good size and the clip holds a ton

 

i have the M&P 9 and love it. i've only put about 600 rnds through it, but haven't had any malfunctions yet. it comes with 3 interchangeable grips so you should find one that fits your hand.

i used to be BP in TX and they first gave us sig's to carry and they where alright, but my new fav is the S&W MP .40 not really a full size but not compact either

hmm. im looking for both as well but the way i look at it is its hard to have both. i mean you can but for me its not. im looking at gettin the keltec pf-9 9mm, its a very small conceal carry 9mm. im looking to get the springfield xd .40 as my bedside weapon. the .40 is definitely a little bit bigger and bulkier than the keltec though thats why i wouldnt consider it as a conceal carry

 

I have and love my Springfield 1911 A-1 MIL-SPEC .45 I also love the Springfield XDM.40, just wish it was in a .45 too.

 

Thats funny, i could have sworn that i saw an XDM .45 on their site this morning??? Cant get on the site righ know from work but i thought there was one on there.....

meteoraman What about a sub compact? I mean size wise. Main reason i want a concealed weapons permit is so that i dont have to lock my gun up in my truck.... what good would that do if i needed it in a hurry?

 

I have the Glock 27 subcompact .40. It's an awesome carry gun.

 

i have a Springfield armory XD-40. very nice gun. comes with a whole set-up. mine came with gun 2 12 round clips a dual clip holder, fitted holster, and a cleaning kit. very nice

Yes, revolvers are more reliable. You want a weapon that's fun to shoot, you can carry concealed, and keep in your nightstand and won't break the bank?....I would go with Glock 23, and pick up a 9mm Lone Wolf conversion barrel for cheaper target shooting.

 

Find a gun you are comfortable with... .40 cals are good for the size versus stopping power.

I'm a sig fan from work....and a SA XD/XDm fan from my own trips to shoot...and Glocks aren't horrible either...not my favority egos- but you might like them alot.

 

theyre very reliable just been perfected over the years. im not saying they are out-dated but the semi is more set and ready to rock

Nope, not yet they don't. The XD's have the .45 in the line up, but not the XDM's. I can wait though. You cant rush love.
