Need some opinions...

Hey guys,

First off, you may or may not know that I had to sell my Tacoma a while back. I'm currently looking at Tacoma's and getting ideas on what to get for my next truck as far as 4x2, 4x4, etc. I got to thinking that if I got a 4x4 Tacoma, I would really wheel it and use it like a dedicated 4x4 rig... Or I could get a 2WD and then get a dedicated trail rig. With a trail rig, I wouldn't have to worry about even slightly damaging a new truck on the trails. What do you think?

 

I would love to go offroading with it, but would not be happy with body damage at all. That being said, a trail rig seems to be a better idea?

The difference in price between the two would be about the same.

 

I've had six 4X4's, all daily drivers, going back to my 1984 Toyota Truck and including three Jeeps, a Ford (never again!), and my current ride, an '09 Tacoma 2.7L AC. I've driven all of them very extensively off-road in all types of terrain throughout SoCal, Baja, and Arizona and the most damage I've ever done was a few trail pinstripes. Which buffed right out.

You don't have to thrash your vehicle to have fun off-road and see country you'd never be able to reach without 4WD. Just slow down, pick your line and always make sure you can back out if necessary.
