Andrew Cogliano, Ryan Kesler, Jakob Silfverberg, and Matt Beleskey are all far better contributors than the role players you mentioned.

They all have done a fantastic job this year, especially compared to Helm and Abdelkader

 

I hate to tell you this but all good teams have a few good hits in the lower rounds. Boston had several of those too.

Once those guys were in the system, especially Datsyuk, people who watched the minors new they were studs. No one is saying much about Nyquist anymore and Tatar doesn't have that drive top end players have.

 

they got lucky with thoses 2, if they had an idea how good they were they wouldnt have left them that late in the rounds. Your not doing that again with players, but apparently you need to see it to believe it now

The guy is delusional. I can't wait till 4-5 years from now when the Wings have been a fringe team for that long and he's still preaching about the cup they are going to "win in the next 3 years".

 

They face a pretty formidable foe in the blackhawks, a team that has proven recently they can win it all. In 4 cups, a back to back, and 24 years then we'll see Lol..

If you knew anything about either team you'd know that's not true.

Toronto traded away it's highest draft picks for Kessel. It didn't work out at all lol. Now we will be drafting.

What ruined the Leafs for years was trading away picks to try for short term success. It got us to a conference final in the early 2000's but in the salary cap era that backfired big time. Now it's time to stock pile picks in all rounds and move forward.

The players we have taken have been working out. Kadri is a decent player and will probably be traded for excellent return (top 10 pick), Reilly looks to be coming along great, and Nylander is coming next year. JVR we got in return for Schenn, which was a definite upgrade on a draft pick that wasn't playing out. This year we have the number 4 pick in a very good top 5. Actually a lot of people are saying 3-5 are basically the 1-3 of a normal draft year, so that will help out a lot in the three year plan.

Shanahan fired 3/4 of the TO scouting department because he felt they weren't seeing players that fit his vision. So this will be Shanny's draft. Let's see how he does.

Edmonton on the other hand has just destroyed every player they've drafted. The saddest thing is one or two of these kids will likely get traded and end up being studs for another team.

 

Kesler is a hell of a player. Easy to hate the guy though, with all the embellishment and what not.

This is going to be a great series and has been already, considering this is the first real hockey team that the Ducks have seen thus far in the playoffs. Hawks looked tired and looked like shit last night. I was telling my wife this is basically the Stanley Cup final round, since whoever wins this is going to railroad the east. Obviously want the hawks to win. I don't know what it is about Perry, but he has a face that you just want to punch, I cant put my finger on it. It's not because hes good, he just has that look to him. Oh and F Kesler.
