Sweet picture and great looking Baja! Now that I see this, I will need to revisit my decision to eventually go with 255's. I do like the look of a 285 better...

sorry, but just to clarify, this is 285/75/16's on a stock baja? Looks great. Is the passenger rear tire so close to the fender because its flexing, or is that how it looks all the time?

Also, if you add that size to the spare, will it still fit underneath the bed?

Trying to decide was size I want to go for on my baja. Don't offroad that much, baja suspension will remain stock for good, its all I need and I'm happy.

Since folks are discussing AALs and ride height for their TRD Pro, Baja, etc., I figured I would post a pic of mine. I have a 2014 TRD TX Baja, and I installed Wheelers progressive AAL and left the overload in. Up front I added the TOYTEC Baja spring seat. It is almost 3" all around and sits pretty level. Stock tires for now, although I am considering 255s or 285s. Sorry for the low-quality iPhone pics, but you get the idea.


In my opinion the ride is better, and it is much stiffer with less bounce. I also recently towed a motorcycle on a utility trailer (uHaul) with no sagging in the rear. Very pleased with this setup for performance and looks.

Spare tire is stock bfg. Didn't see the need to change it. I will once it's time to replace these tires.

The second picture shows how it sits. About 200 lbs in the bed, the bed extender deal was for the firewood etc.

I measured my truck with the tape next to My moms with the stock baja setup. Both DCSB she has the 2 in AAL I like and I have the 3 leaf progressive from wheelers.

My truck sits almost exactly 3/4 inch lower front and about an inch rear her trucks tires measured about a 3/8 or so smaller.

Had some fun on some bumps and ruts.. speed bumps and curbs etc. The Baja suspension with single add a leaf does ride a little more stiff. On the road my Pro rides better offroad the Baja seems to bounce less. Not like a bad shock kind of bounce but in a large whoop low speed area the pro seemed to travel farther up and down and use up more of the available travel. Where the Baja seemed a little more harsh like it had more in reserve.

 

Looks good! Any clearance issues with AAL on the drivers side? Is the front most AAL pack clamp hitting on the fuel tank mount at all?

 

I got the ESUSE ones from ambiguous on here, they are real nice and well built. Color temp is awesome too. Only thing is with me wanting amber fogs, when I did the Lamin-X on them it messed up the output and the color temp came out yellow, not amber, with white bleed around the edges the Lamin-X didn't cover. So they're great if you run them as is for white output but I wouldn't recommend putting Lamin-X on them.

I installed my icon aal, I wanna say I discussed that issue with you briefly and the fact of cutting the stock clamps off. Easy installation and zero issues so far. Great look and ride as well!!!

 

Thanks. I haven't noticed the front most clamp hitting the fuel tank mount, and there doesn't appear to be any signs of contact. Now that you mention it though, I will be checking it more frequently.

 

Here's the old thread I made that shows you where I was talking about. The AAL clamps are what hit the fuel tank on mine just barely. I've ground off some material and flipped the bolt to minimize the contact but it still happens.

The installation instructions from Wheelers that came with the AAL said to have the nut/bolt end facing outboard, which is the way I installed it. Maybe that is why I have no contact, or maybe there are small differences between the Icon and Wheelers AAL? Who knows, but thanks again for the heads up and the thread link on the issue. I will definitely continue to keep an eye on it.

Don't think I ever posted mine in here. Nothing crazy, just some subtle touches here and there.
Bought my '13 TX Baja in July 2013 brand new with 4 miles on her. Removed mudflaps and debadged everything except the red trd emblem the day after I pick her up. After a few months I added weathertechs, sport color matched grille, afe stage 2 pro dry-s intake, and welded on sliders.
Year later moved it from New Jersey to North Carolina. Got the cargo net and bed mat to help with the move.
Since living in the south, only did little things, trd shift knob, weathertec rain guards, trailer harness relocation, minor recovery gear.



I love my Baja. Suspension is all I need, thats staying stock. Only thing I'd ever change is the springs to eibach 700lb if and when I add armor, which would be way down the line.

Hey guess what guys? I just joined the TX Baja blown rear shock club.

And here's some neat info... There's no rear TX Baja struts in the united states. Theres 584 on backorder lol
