no no don't get the GEN1 totally different if you feel funny about it call Rockauto customer service or use that part # and search the internet see if its the same for your truck thru other resources but youll get the best price at Rockauto or maybe Amazon

 

Right, but if the flow rate of the 1st gen fuel pump is not sufficient enough to handle the demand of the 2nd gen's fuel injectors then the truck is going to be running lean, and the pump will burn out in short order due to the pump working at it's max capacity. So I have to determine flow rate of the 1st gen pump before I consider picking it up.

I could be wrong but I think fuel pump flow rates only come into question when you have super charger on the truck where more than normal amount of fuel needs to be sent to feed the engine ?

 

Interesting. Made a call, and the Denso part number lists as good for our second gen's but for whatever reason when I attempted to search our trucks in the Denso website and try to get a part number out of them it came up as no results found.

It's still relative even if you're NA. You can always have a larger pump because the injectors regulate the amount of fuel being sprayed into the cylinders but if you undersize the pump by getting a smaller flow rate then you can create lean situations.

 

I would definetly get that Rockauto pump you cant go wrong with the price and its a DENSOjust for kicks call up the Stealer Parts dept and see what part# and price they have!

 

Sucks though. I needed to at least have the pump by today so I could set aside some off time to fix the truck, and either way, any place I get it from is still going to have it delivered by Tuesday due to the damn 3 day weekend.

I would had done that, but I don't live anywhere near close to them, and the items wouldn't ship out til at least Tuesday. I have a Bosch sitting in the box currently. Debating if I should throw that one on, or wait it out. Frankly I need the car yesterday, so maybe I shouldn't be too picky about the kind of pump I am going to be putting into it.

 

This is why i always will keep my street bike, I dont ride it much but its nice to have a second vehicle.

Not sure how the DCLB is setup but the fuel pump on the DBSB is like 8 inches underneath the cab of the truck. Not sure how easy it is to drop the tank. But its literally 25minutes to pull the bed off.

 

I'm with ya. I already have all 6 bolts off the bed its just a deal of sliding the bed back and lifting it some.

Makes me really glad I got my bike to be back on. Though working nightshift really trashes my body all day long so it's not very safe to ride while i'm all tired.

 

100% true, ride safe man! Does the DCLB fully expose the tank with the bed off?

 

my GEN1 was 6 bolts unplug the rear lights remove gas cap you will need at least 2 people (strong) to lift straight up and move back about 2 feet after that its a piece of cake just make sure to get a new gasket its good $4 insurance against future leaks. Shit man if your trucks under warranty I would make them replace maybe u can use a better part and let them do it plus you get a loaner car till done.

The DCLB does indeed. I can actually see the cover for the pump just by peeking into the void between the cab and the bed. Lucky me.

I would had went that route but you know how the dealer is. Plus those wankers would never install a different pump then the full OE unit. The disassembly of the unit is too time consuming for them not to mention the small modifications to make a standard fuel pump unit fit.

So im a bit confused by your methodology for accessing the pump. Do you lift the bed then put blocks under it or can you get away with just sliding it out of the way? The rear bumper looks like it would be in the way also.

 

Speaking of which. I found a viable alternative for those in a pinch if you ever need to replace your fuel pump. If you go to your nearest autozone, O'Reilly (Kragen) Advance Auto or even Napa, you can pick up Airtex PN E2448. It's a fuel pump made for Ford Focus SVT's 2000-2002 BUT in disguise, upon opening the box you will find a fuel pump made by Walboro. It is even stamped clearly for you to see. Evidently it's actually the 255LPH pump as well. Several conversations with tech support at Walboro confirms that pump is actually made by them and it is the 255LPH version. The most recent updated version of it seperates the positive and negative terminals and puts one on one side and one on the other. It is dimensionally no larger then the GSS342 version I should add and comes with the harness connector, strainer. You supply hose and clamps however. There are two different versions floating around so you may have to search store to store for a while before you find the right one. BTW, I confirmed the proper stamping on it today but ultimately walked away from it because at the time I was looking for the other version which ended up not having harness for it, rendering it useless to me. I'll go pick it up tomorrow. Ehm, today.

 

on the GEN1 me and my brother lifted straight up(grab under the fender wells with gloves) then took the bed about 2-3 steps towards the back where the fender behind the rear wheel will rest on the bumper and the fender in front of the rear wheel will rest on top of the rear tire itself. I chocked up some pieces of 2x4 wood under on top of bumper to support the the rear of the bed probably didn't have too cause the weight of the bed is such that it would have sat down where it was good enough. And to replace was just the opposite pick straight up 2-3 steps towards the front place it down I measured the crack between the rear of the cab and the front of the box on both sides just so it was put back the same place as before. I think the GEN2 have completely different type of composite bed and mount configuration tho I would search a little Ive seen a thread(with pictures) here where a guy removed and replaced the grommet seal of the fuel pump sending unit cause it was leaking by moving the bed back. Also the rear bumper stays in place no removing it.
