OP, you hit the nail on the head with your opening post.

The forum here is so full of serious derp it's almost not worth reviewing. The problem is there's not really another good option (at least that I've found).

What this place needs is some active admin oversight. If admins start managing the forum in a way that trolls and/or habitual posters of non-3Gen topics get time outs or outright banned, things will get better in a hurry. Until that happens this forum will likely remain a juvenile-like / drama-driven mess.

 

irl I'm a software architect. I don't directly work with SEO (search engine optimization) or social media marketing, but I've worked for companies that had departments for each of these. They do contracts for major corporations all the time. Going on reddit with 50 accounts and creating faux controversies about clients' competition, creating shitty reviews on yelp, creating good reviews on yelp for their clients, create infographics that will be hotlinked so their clients' page ranks higher on google and so on. If this sounds like some kind of wild conspiracy, believe me, it isn't. Social media marketing is mainstream.

I don't like fanboys - even tacoma fanboys - but this forum somehow manages to be run by anti-tacoma fanboys. The thing about the tacoma hate here is that its not the type of hate you'd expect from a 1st gen (or toyota pickup) hardliner. I know plenty of taco (and old toyota pickup) fans that dislike the direction toyota has gone. I can understand that conversation, but the taco hate here is what I'd expect someone to say that has:

1. Never owned a pickup in their life and only knowledge comes from the marketing team at GM
2. Want a full size duramax

Half the mods on this site dont even own Tacomas... so it kinda makes sense that this place is filled with so much hate towards Toyota. On that note, Im going to see if I can mod Rangerforum, and spread some anti-ford propaganda over there.

 

Huh , well you must be looking at a different forum , cause beyond a few people that have been really upset about Toyota failings like their frames rotting off or the odd person that is just impossible to please , I don't see that this forum is predominantly anti Tacoma or Toyota
