What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

First question is height, you think you could send a photo of a side shot?, curious on how far above the cab it

And did you opt to drill and mount directly to the rails because of the tonneau cover?

I thought they made one for the Tacoma bedrail mounts.

 

Bought a Pelican Tidewater Angler Kayak last week for my girlfriend to join me on my adventures.

 

Yep this seems like the best option and has worked for me many times too. Can also carefully weld a nut onto it, but given it's probably up against plastic or close to it I wouldn't suggest going that route lol.

 

I agree, I bought mine a few months back, it is a bad design. I should've checked with TW prior to buying it. What a waste of money IMO.

 

What issues does it have? I did the hood struts and it works great, but never really looked into the tailgate option.

Took mine trail riding in Hot Springs ORV Saturday to get a feel for the park . Came close to body damage a few times lol.

 

The strut rubs up against the tailgate metal strap and in the long term, will cause it to be frayed and eventually break from the tailgate. Redline explaination to me was "We're sorry you're not happy with our product but we will refund you the cost.... minus the S&H" So instead of fixing the product design issue, they just refund the money and sell it to the next sucker.

 

Changed the oil, and swapped out the ome 883s for stock, yes i went back to stock, and set the 5100s to 0. Rides much softer now. I know, I'm getting old.

 

Got bored and made a fishing rod holder with a drop hitch and an extra board I had laying around.
It works great.

 

I also have the same rack without a tonneau cover. The mounting brackets use the bed rail. No drilling required.

 

I need to get a new Maglite. The batteries corroded my last two.

 

This is from a few days ago, but is it helping? I've got a lot of road noise and exhaust noise, which I don't mind, but were about to take a long trip and would love a cheap helpful fix to cut it down. This do the trick?

 

I've been contemplating the same thing but the exhaust on the highway is finally getting to me! I'm shopping for a used stock exhaust currently.

 

The road and exhaust noise isn't gone, but it's definitely reduced. I only covered the back wall of the cab and just a strip of the floor. Adding the sound deadener to the floor should help even more.

 

Reduced would be great. How long did it take you? Do you have a write up at all? Or I guess just take the back panels off and apply?

 

I put two 16" strips across the back. The seats and driver side panel were already out. It took me about an hour to pull the passenger panel, sub, and apply the mat.

I started at the top by pulling back the backing paper across the top and working my way down. Just expose the long edge, apply it just below the window, and start forming it into shape. I did use a hard rubber roller to save my fingers.

I'm probably going to use up the rest of the roll on the floor in the back.

 

When you reassemble do you just screw right through it? Or are there any screws to begin with... Haha
I think I might do this. Never taken out the seats before but sounds like this is worth it
I don't have a sub so don't need to worry about that

 

The panels mostly pop into place with clips. I trimmed the material away from the holes. There are bolts for the seats that you'll have to trim for as well.

I'm running without seats, so I'm surprised yours is loud enough to bother with.
