Hey when is Toyota going to start selling a diesel Tacoma in North America?

They probably won't. It's been around here for awhile, talking about the EPA requirements for imported diesels.

If you haven't noticed, Americans have a illogical aversion to diesel, they're too expensive to make and run here, and besides Toyota has a "green = Hybrid" image to maintain. If the Taco gets anything, I'd imagine it'd be more of a 5lug hybrid.

Diesels are more "green" by far then currant hybrid technology. The VW clean TDi took the highest honors for green technology NOT a Toyota Prius. Think 60mpg and still enough power to haul ass!! Not only that but you can recycle most parts of a diesel engine, hybrid drives have weird high-tech parts and expensive non recyclable batteries.

I would think we would be more likely to see a diesel Toyota in Canada before the US, for a couple reasons first there has always been more of a market in Canada for diesel vehicles, and second would be scale of sales. Much smaller number of pickups to make the first couple years with a diesel. Toyota has the technology, and the engines, just a matter of time IMO.
