Just moved to Colorado Springs a couple weeks ago and decided to head up Old Stage road a few days ago. Im waiting for it to dry out a little before I explore Eagle Rock.

Do you remember seeing LCSO Sheriff Deputies directing traffic near highway 34 & Sandy's at the base of the canyon?

Looks familiar. What's he charging for those kits these days? I made mine from parts I had laying around after I did some bed lights. Guessing I had less than $20 invested, just don't know how much less.

Problem is I prefer OEM equipment. Their warranty will only replace the aftermarket reman pump. Hope that's all it is.

I changed my sensor 1 a little while ago. I'll have to check to see if it's been 75,000 miles. I'm thinking more like 30,000. But when I did change the sensor one of the studs was seized to the nut so the whole stud came out. I just tightened it down on the new sensor.

But prior to the power steering pump, and after the O2 sensor change, I was getting my normal 21-23 mpg

It's been over 3000 miles already. Pretty sure the ECU has relearned everything.

Yeah but your truck, and Lauren's, are far more built up than mine. If I had as much armor etc as the two of you I would expect my mpg to be lower than 21-22.

I do. I'm in Boulder County. You can have it for free.

A few points I'd like to make about the firearm discussion earlier:

    1) No firearm is capable of surpassing your level of training.
    2) Buying a firearm to make a noise to scare off someone is the wrong plan of attack & is more likely to get you in a world of shit.
    3) Shotguns are about the worst possible option for home defense of all the possibilities for numerous reasons, especially in the hands of someone with little to no training.
    4) If you plan to buy a firearm and only one firearm a pistol has far more uses especially when combined with a CCW permit (even though it's also not the best choice for everyone for HD).
    5) IMO good ol' boy networks and car forums are the worst possible place to get gun advice as a big portion of advice is that which hasn't been tested first-hand.

You don't ask about your truck on a video game forum so why ask about something as critical as a firearm used for self protection & home defense on a truck forum? A lot of what I said above flies in the face of the things a lot of people 'heard' someone say once so that's why it's best to go to a trustworthy source for firearm information.

I was thinking about getting an alarm sign. Also thinking about some security cameras. I want to say they have wireless ones now. But I haven't looked into that much yet.

I live a couple blocks north of wash park. On my block in the past week we've had a car stolen, one broken into, and then my house was broken into.....to top it off there was a shooting just a mile away yesterday. I don't live in a bad neighborhood at all either.

I'm just worried now that the guy who broke in saw everything we own and got away, he's going to make a return trip.

I definitely plan on shooting the gun before I buy it. My room mate used to work at the cherry creek gun range, so hopefully he can get me discount on rentals.....plus he's also going to be there trying out pistols too.

I grew up bird hunting and feel very comfortable with a shotgun. For home defense it would be great, but it wouldn't be too convenient to carry with me hiking or stash in my hammock while I sleep.

I'm not using just the info from this thread to make my decision. Just wanted to hear what people who carry guns for protection use and why. I'm going to talk with my uncle (former FBI), and some other friends/family with experience on the subject to get their perspective too. I figured with all the gun talk I've skipped over on this thread a few of you guys must be able to give a couple recommendations though.

But I definitely a agree with #1. Whatever I end up buying will be followed with plenty of practice time before I start carrying it around.

Any advice about something so controversial as Guns are on the internet is quite folly or must be taken with a giant ass grain of salt. Personally I picked a few law enforcement friends brains about it and made my decisions based on their input, and then my requirements/situation.

Beyond that train, train, train. I personally wouldn't buy a firearm until you have enough money for at least 500+ rounds to practice with preferably twice that. Depending on caliber this could run you as much as $0.50/rd for practice ammo.

#3: please explain. You did not give a foundation as to why you feel this way about shotguns. Worried expanding groups? The mystical "stopping power"? Or perhaps.....penetration?

I use my issued weapons for my protection, on and off the job, if I was issued a shotgun it would be in my bedroom... Since I am not, my 45 is there. In the event I use it, it gets taken, not my personal weapons.

I just got internet hooked up in my room here.. 65 bucks gets me 100mbs haha. Compared to Alaska I was getting 7mbs at a data cap of 100gb for $110 . I'd say that's quite an improvement

Do you have a data cap/quota per week/month?

It most def is.. can't do anything about it either.. data cap on internet is just crazy.

Nope, no cap. I have a phone here as well, 44mbs, no cap, but after 12gb per day (yes per day) it'll drop a bit. Unlimited everything is 65 bucks

Yeah the phone thing is crazy, unlocked already, you pay about 60 for the service, another 50 a month until it's paid off and you keep the phone. Companies in the U.S. have just recently started that.

Yes, they were directing (holding back the cagers) traffic at every major intersection.
Was there something significant about that particular area?
