I took ~500 pics this weekend. It is very difficult to pick only a handful to post, trying my best to not go too crazy here.......:D

Succor Creek base camp option. Good jumping off point for lots of back road adventures....

There were maybe 5-10 cars of people. On Memorial Day weekend. In a place this beautiful. Tons of empty campsite areas, both designated and non. So crazy to me that so few people go to this area!! Wow. Hopefully I didn't blow it by advertising it on the internet............oh well, too late now!

Another exciting thing about Boise, apparently they even lasso their tires there? We will have to learn this skill.....

@TenBeers , you can't see the 10 in the name, but this was 10 Barrel Brewing Co, and it looked really cool in there. Couldn't go in, too hot to leave Dolly in the car.

You think you could drink 10 BARRELS instead of 10 BEERS if you went there? Perhaps this should be a scheduled event on the Eastern Oregon Toyota Tour?

Taco at the trailhead, at a possible campsite...although the odds that the immediate area is covered in rattlesnakes is pretty high I'd say.

Just finished the worst white knuckle part of the drive. I actually took a video of some of that part, but will not be posting it on the internet :D

Standing at the trailhead, weighing the option of climbing down a steep and likely rattlesnake covered hill to see the Honeycombs (you can see a little piece of honeycomb rock in this photo, over in front of where I'm looking).

If you hike down in there, it's supposed to look like this......

Oh yeah, if anyone is looking to adopt a wild horse, Boise BLM has a ton of really beautiful ones. Damn camera died on us when driving through there, but there were little wobbly colts (SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute) that could barely stand up on their long skinny legs, and huge majestic looking Kiger Mustangs, and everything in between.

We also saw this little sheep looking for an adventure on our way back to Boise Sunday. Lots of sheepherder Basque people in that area. Wanted to try a yummy sounding Basque restaurant but didn't make it down there. Maybe next time. Menu sounds awesome!!

@Dirty Pool , what's your snake protocol? Surely you run into them in your neck of the woods? Some books say try to remove venom, others say don't. Do you have a plan for snake bites when you are hours from civilization?

I want to go to E. Oregon now.

I've seen a few rattle snakes in Washington. The aren't very big and very shy, they were hoping I didn't see them. I believe Oregon rattle snakes are the same species as Washington's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crotalus_oreganus).

The only person I know who's been bitten was picking up rattle snakes. He got bit 3 times and only had to go to the hospital once, pretty good odds.

More people die from bee stings that from snake bites in the U.S.

It freaks me out because it looks like most of this hike involves sticking your hands and feet in places where you can't see what the hell is near/under/etc, which is exactly what they say you are supposed to NOT do to avoid snake bites. At least if I had those boots I'd be a little less freaked out. Probably worrying about it more than I should, but we definitely do see them when we are over there, and surely they'd bite you if you accidentally stepped on one!

Thing is, it's fun even just doing nothing but driving around over there on all those crazy roads, and looking around at how beautiful it is. But yeah, actually hiking to something even cooler would be a huge bonus.

We are really wanting to check out the Chalk Basin part of the Owyhee for our next big adventure, maybe this fall if it's not scorching hot. I know temps in that area can get ridiculous. Those roads on the west side of the Owyhee river look even worse/longer than the ones we were just on (east side of Owyhee river) though!!! Will need to allow plenty of time if we do that. Plus extra time for getting lost. They really don't believe in signage out there!! Makes it way more fun though.......always wondering a little bit whether you are going the right way or not, but kind of not caring because it's so damn beautiful everywhere you look. :)

Nah, our headlights work just fine! I did look at your link, but I think we're fine with what we've got for that. I will be soliciting your topper suggestions this week though Keakar!!

We DO need to get around to those shocks ASAP. Might have to stay home and not play this weekend to get those done. Felt every bump from our shot shocks. Not good.

But cranking right up every time! I have to admit, sometimes when we are really in some dire, middle of nowhere scenario, and we start it and it fires right up, we yell, "NOAHPETE, YEAH!" :D
