From what I remember there aren't any mile markers on South Padre Island. The only actual plan is to drive in all together through access 5, cruise up to, and maybe past, access 6 to find a spot big enough for all of us.

I had an idea, others brought it up last year as well, about parking in somewhat of a giant circle, with all the front ends facing outward, and all the 2 wheel drive trucks facing the beach/surf side and all the 4x4 trucks parking on the softer, less packed sand. That way it would be more of a "communal" thing. It's just an idea. Several people actually brought it up on numerous occasions in last year's meet. Many seemed to think it would be a more fun thing to do as opposed to just parking in one giant line with everybody spread out.

If the majority think that this may be something "new" to try this year we can definitely give it a shot. : ) Once it starts getting dark we can set up a bon fire and, if it happens as it's happened before, if people start leaving by the end of the day we can just move the trucks that are downwind from the bon fire out of the way and still keep the group tight-knit. : )

Once again it's just an idea, but since it was brought up by many people I thought it would good to throw it out there and see what y'all think. :D

Jstanley, some people do take off from the main group and drive all the way up to the East Cut : )
I'm sure there'll be some this year as well, so you can always go explore with them.

Ah, South Padre. Was thinking Padre Island for some reason, maybe I'm getting groups confused cause I swear there was a PINS group going same time.

Hope all the S.A and surrounding area members are doing good and keeping their rides safe so you can make it out to the meet.

My girlfriend and I were camping in Bastrop state park this weekend. Spent yesterday hiking around the park. Thankfully we left a few hours before the dam broke.

There are hand made Mile marker signs that have been up for a while a few years at least.

This is definetly the wrong beach. This is PINS (Padre Island National Seashore) in Corpus Christi the meet happening for this thread is for SPI (South Padre Island). If we drive onto access 5 as usual and parade up towards access 6 the end of the island or East Cut is just under 30 miles from access 6. At the end there is a shipping channel cut into the island from Port Mansfield. The other side of that channel is the Corpus Christi side. I think if you are in Corpus and head south to the cut it is over 60 miles. The PINS meet happened a few months ago.

Wow, talk about being fortunate! : )

I guess since I haven't really gone too far up the beach I haven't really noticed the mile markers. : /

Yeah, figured that out. Pretty sure I've see a more recent PINS meetup somewhere but I haven't run across it again. Realizing how far it is to get to South Padre, I'm not so sure it's worth the drive just to hang out. Going to need some sweet trail to get me that far down the road, but then maybe come end of July I may just be that bored, or maybe I'll just wave to y'all from the other side of the ship channel ;)

I'd be down for a PINS trip towards the end of August. Maybe leave on a Friday and camp till Sunday. I still want to get to the end of PINS after being defeated last year.

You may be right about the recent PINS trip. I forgot what forum I was posting to LOL. There was an FJ meet a couple of months ago on the FJ forum and that is what I was thinking about.

Is the wind any less brutal around that timeframe? It would be tough to convince me to camp two nights in August on the beach w/o a shower. I definitely want to make the end myself as well.
