Might have to look into this..

It wouldn't make sense to extend it if you are going to leave the check valve part in.. If you think about it the check valve only lets air out not in, so it won't let dirt or mud or water through it. The reason you extend it is because your leaving it open so it can breath in and out instead of just out IMO.

Got these fake projector headlights off of ebay that im gona43A51E47-EC68-45F0-8967-3B1195811EA4_zps_798e56515c35096da5b20455128236fc9e176f6a.jpg be retrofitting. Put them in out of curiosity and I cant believe these are even being sold. They shoot light in random spots and lines everywhere. It would be a problem for oncomming traffic if they were half as bright as you would want a headlight.

Yeah after reading that other diff breather mod thread (didn't know two existed) it makes sense to put in a two-way/free breathing breather. Probably going to put it behind the gas door rather than behind the tail light so 1. it would be somewhat protected when I wash it and/or rains and 2. I can check on it easily.

I have it behind the gas door at the moment, I don't mind it. Eventually I'm going to get that ARB breather kit though and run all my breathers to it. The breathers up front are technically still on a check valve too and are not just open.

Got mine behind the gas door too. Hardest part was it was a tight fit and the plastic it was mounted to had to be finessed a bit.

These headlights are quite possibly one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. The way they scatter the beam is something of technical marvel.

I'll throw an answer in too.
I used a tiny fuel filter, mounted behind the fuel fuller door. I want mine to breathe freely. I've had experience in the past with one-way breathers clogging up or not venting when they should and this resulted in a leaky seal either at the pinion or the axle shaft.
ACE had the barbed brass fitting, that actually threaded and fit, and parts store had the hose and filter. Pull the fuel filler door assembly off and everything is fairly well exposed at that point.

I remember looking at yours but can't remember the details (oh boy...)

Is your breather mounted on the side of the assembly, on top or in the back near the filler neck?

I honestly get more light output from my led maglight running on AAAs. I even changed out the bulbs to some quality ones i had laying around.

Yep i got a little inline fuel filter on mine from orielys. I reused the little valve assembly from the stock breather but i just took out the little spring and the small rubber disk so it would stay open, but covered.

The actual filter is behind. The rubber is just a piece of the rubber hose slipped over the nipple on the filter to hold it in place. I didn't feel a need for a clamp as the filter is barbed and the hose is tight. I did clamp it on the back side and at the axle end.

And a small exposed section as it snakes it's way up there. I zip-tied it into place where it needed it and left a fair amount of slack at the lower end for flexing purposes.
