My A/C no longer works and I'm not going to put any money into it to make it work as I have no use for it. If you've never been to the Oregon Coast it rarely hits 80 degrees here so the A/C would literally get used about 2 weeks out of the year. I'm about to replace my belts and it appears as if the A/C has it's own belt so can I just remove that belt and leave everything else in place or is there anything else I need to do in order to do away with my A/C?? The only thing that makes me think I may have to do something else is the A/C light comes on when the defroster is turned on. Is there a way to disable this setting so it doesn't try to run the A/C while in defrost mode?

I can't remember if your year applies but in the 1st gen there's an "extra" a/c setting, you have to remove the knob and dremel a small piece that allows the dial to go over one more notch.
This lets you use the defroster without a/c

yep, just cut or remove the belt and its eliminated completely, if it doesn't turn it doesn't run and cant cause issues

You should turn it into an air compressor, instant on-board air that is capable of seating a tire bead.

Hmm I like the sound of this but I've never heard of it. Will be researching what all is involved to make it happen.

Thank you everybody else for your replies.

The York compressor is the popular conversion as it has a self contained oiling system. Not much room under the hood to mount one of these in a Tacoma though.
I've not done one yet on a Tacoma but I think it has a Sanden Compressor, somebody correct me if I'm wrong, and it will need an air drier and a tool oiler/oil return kit incorporated into it to keep the compressor oiled and the air clean coming out of the line. And a small air filter for the intake to keep the dust out. An air tank is optional.
The one I did with the York, I just used a pressure relief valve set to pop at 175psi. I could run an impact wrench with it, in short bursts. It would air up 4-37" tires from 12psi to 35psi in 5 minutes.

Edit: so apparently it can be done with a York but it's a tight fit.

I think I would pursue converting the stock compressor just to save space. If it does nothing but air up tires it should last for quite awhile.
