Best flashlights.

I was out working on my Wife's car last night, had the flashlight sitting on the roof when it rolled off and smacked the concrete. Its a Maglight and it didn't do a thing to it. I've had this flashlight for 12 years and it has been through hell and back. So to me, its got to be about the best flashlight out there.

 

I LOVE my (4 or 5) Streamlight(s). I have a pen tip sized one for in the cockpit...All the way up to a larger one for camping. Some day I'll remember to look for a rechargable one to mount in the Taco.

We used them for boardings and nighttime operations on the boat too....

 

If you want a flashlight that will just keep on going, check out surefire. Great light for the money. Very durable, and extremely reliable. My E2D Executive is as bright as my 3 D cell mag light.

I bought 3 of these when woot.com had them up. Paid $65 shipped total for all 3. Normally seem to sell for around $60-70 each.



Not the brightest light out there (single 3w LED for the main light) but I got it because it'll last a long time, and the red LED is useful to me for night reading. Also has an infrared bulb (useful for hunters or military folk?) and a blue bulb for spotting blood at night.

I love my SureFire's. Batteries are pretty pricey though.

 

Surefire or Streamlight

 

I can not even begin to explain to you how great this flashlight is. Its only 50$ and is recharable so no dealing with the c123 batteries that are 4$ a battery. Two it is pretty solid i have dropped from 6ft and nothing happen and at 220 lumens...well lets just say its bright lol much brighter than any streamlight or surefire I have owned. It also come with a truck charger

 

I just picked up a new coleman three bulb flashlight at wal-mart the other day. Now I was skeptical because coleman isn't what it used to be. it takes three AAA's and is bright as hell. 117 lumen output from the main white LED. Now it isn't a surefire, but for 30 bucks its a damn nice little light. Aluminum construction with red, white and blue LED's. I also have a c2 centurion surefire and that is a great light. But the price and functionality of the coleman takes the surefire for me. Durability is something i am testing now.

Years ago a guy I worked with found a Maglite buried in the sand on the shores of Lake Berryessa in California. It was obviously there for a long time and looked like garbage. He cleaned it up, put a new bulb in it, some new batteries and it lit right up. They may not be the most high tech or the brightest, but they sure are tough.

 

I'm working on a flashlight design. This is just the bare bulb.. no reflector.

 

That flashlight is way to big to carry, I have my surefire on me at all times and I have never paid more than two bucks for a battery. The replacement bulb is twenty bucks though and I have gone through three of those in the seven years I have carried the flashlight.

 

Pelicans are the toughest I bet, submersble to 500 ft. Maglites and surefires are nice lights but they never last if you drop them in the drink.

 

Maglite is the best for my needs. The LED models provide enough light for any job and the overall mass of the handle and case make for a very handy weapon if called on.

 

I really like the surefires too. The newer ones now have an LED bulb which makes the batteries last about 10 times longer than the older bulb design and are even brighter!

IMO, Mags are tough enough for nearly everything. Their bulbs are a bit weak, both in output and longevity, though. And I don't like that their LEDs just die on you.

Streamlight I don't care for, even though I've tried a few over the years. Sure, they're durable, I don't know why I don't like them, the exception being the SL Nano. On the plus side, they do have car-chargeables!

Pelican are the same way. I suppose if I worked in a hazardous environment it'd be my go-to. Great for fires, mines, water applications, etc.

Surefire are my favorite day-to-day, though, yeah, batteries get pricey. Their new L-series and E-series lights are great, IMO.

For just fun output, a bunch of the better Chinese lights are OK. Multiple modes, decently robust, whatnot. But I haven't gotten to the point where I trust them 100%.

In my car I have a Mad 3D with LED drop-in strapped to my driver's seat, and a SF L4 in with my tools, along with a dozen batteries. There's also a streamlight Nano on my keychains. So you can see, I vary things up a bit!

 

I got 2 streamlight at home, A stinger and an Ultrastinger. I got a stinger LED at work.

 

Looks like a HID....I have a canister dive light that has a 10w hid bulb in it and it is awesome.....only problem with most is the cost of the bulb.
