I have a 1998 SR5 with the AC switch button missing. I ordered a replacement switch from EBay and it should be here today. My question is, how do you get the AC control panel off to get access to the switch?
From what I've been able to figure out so far is that you simply remove the two knobs, and the slider button and pull them off, then remove the plastic face plate, will I be able to replace the switch once I get this far?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I don't think so. The climate control module would then have to be removed. You might need to remove the larger dash piece to be able to do that. Still do-able, but more work.

Depends which climate control you have. On my 99, I just pulled the larger trim around the edge, then pulled the face plate a little at the upper left corner and the button pops out. The plate doesn't have to come out fully, then the new one can just slide in. Took less than 5 minutes. Just don't remove the electrical connector to the airbag light, have heard it can cause issues with the light coming on.

Thanks for the replies but all I had to do was pull off the knobs, pull the cover plate which also removes the old switch, slide the new switch thru the cover plate and then line up the opening of the switch socket and press it in until the cover is back in place. It took less than 5 minutes, a very well design by Toyota!
