3 inch 4 crawler body lift

Who has installed a 3 inch body lift on a first gen? I'm installing it on a 97 2wd automatic and I'm worried the transmission shifting linkage won't have enough slack to do the 3 inch lift. Also if anyone has any pointers or things they screwed up Id appreciate the input. Thanks

 

I think 6 and 5 lug tacomas use different body lifts. As long as you got the right one you should be good.

 

4crawler makes good body lift kits, and he specializes in 4WD stuff for Toyotas but his web-site doesn't conclusively say if he has a set for 5-lug Tacomas. He does say 2wd, but it could mean pre-runner models. Might want to contact Roger Brown about that, to confirm.

Hey did u end up installing that? N how did it go? Did everything have enough slack with the lift installed? I'm looking to go with a 1" daystar body lift but I just hope the truck can handle it without having to buy any corrective stuff.

 

These kits should come with everything required to work. Their not just pucks and longer bolts.

 

Ok good that was really my main concern. Looks like all i need to do is make sure i have all the right tools then order the kit

 

Roger Brown's site details what is impacted with a 3" lift. Be sure to order the complete $200 3" kit.
It includes radiator drop brackets, bumper relocate brackets, and hardware for issues with gas
tank filler, shifter, bed spacers, etc.

BTW, I also think that a 3" body lift is just plain stupid. But if you are going to do it, Roger Brown is the way to go. I've purchased many items of his (for my old '84 4runner) over the years, including a 1" body lift.
