 Dang, it's sounding expensive to live up there! And it's Cold.
My lady & I were recently talking about how nice it is up that way. Well, I recall when I was in Vancouver, BC and it was the cleanest city I've ever seen. The air is fresher & more crisp....beautiful trees everywhere....etc. I'd love to go back up there and check stuff out. I really feel a strong draw to the north west...always have.

I don't know how you were able to get the motivation to start that in the first place. I go on my lunch break or after work. No way in hell I'm waking up at 6:00am to go workout.

I made it through my first Friday night cookout without drinking any alcohol. The goal is to make it to 4th of July with no alcohol...I'll be a cheap drunk by then!

I just chug water. I love drinking on the weekends, but it's killing my cut. I'm just gonna try to only drink on special occasions so I can stay around 9-10% bf. Drinking once a week kills it.

I felt guilty about having recees ice cream with chocolate sauce and M&M's tonight so I did this after dessert tonight.
25 push-ups off the counter, 10 push-ups off the counter with my hands together and targeting my triceps, 60 punches while squating, 25 rope climbs, 30 squats, 10 push-ups.
Tomorrow starts 10 days of eating clean and pushing myself to workout more.

    Discussion time:

Aaron and I were talking about clean eating vs eating whatever the fuq you want a few days ago. Everyone knows it's calories in vs. calories out when losing or gaining weight: if your maintenance is 2500 calories per day, you can eat 2000 calories worth of bacon and pizza and you'll still lose weight. When doing an IIFYM-type diet, the main point is that you can eat WHATEVER you want, just as long as you don't go over your daily calories and macros. When cutting, I find it harder to eat 'dirty' because those foods are so calorie-dense that, if I ate poptarts, cheeseburgers, and hamburger helper everyday, I'd hit my caloric limit by noon. I'd rather eat clean on a cut just because the foods aren't as calorie-dense, thus allowing me to eat more. Now, anyone who's been on here for a while and has seen my bulking diets knows I don't give a fuck about clean eating...again, it's calories in vs calories out. Hell, on my last cut, I went from 205 to 180 drinking a Coke everyday. I just choose to eat clean on cuts now because I hate being hungry. When bulking, I'm eating much more, so I can throw in some calorie-dense foods, such as my beloved hamburger helper and S'mores poptarts.

Here's where Aaron and I split paths (solely due to me being a lazy-ass): he likes to still eat dirty and eat a shit-ton of calories everyday (oreos, pizza, etc.) and can stay lean because his training is a lot more strenuous than mine. The peak of my weekly physical activity is my ~4 hrs in the gym. The other 164 hours of the week, I'm a lazy piece of shit lol...I fish, hunt, go to work, watch tv, and go to the gym and that's about it lol. I'll play the occasional game of backyard football or baseball once every blue moon. Aaron is some kind of masochist Spartan warrior who gets off on making himself hurt 24/7 lol...the reward for that is being able to stuff his face with whatever he wants and can stay lean as fuq. I'm just not that motivated lol. I've had times where I've thought, "okay, this piece of fried chicken is 400 calories; I'd have to run four miles to burn that off." I'd rather just not eat the chicken and not have to run lol

Lastly, for me to stay disciplined and on-track, I have to eat the same things, day after day, even when bulking. If I don't, it fucks up my calories and macros and I get fat. It's just easier for me to eat the same 5 meals a day and not have to worry about counting anything...plus, I don't get tired of it, so there's no harm done.

So, what does everyone else prefer:

    1. Do you prefer to eat whatever you want and work harder to burn the calories or eat a more structured diet so you don't have to go the extra mile (I'm not saying I don't train hard, I'm just saying I'd just rather lift and go home in as little time as possible)?

    2. Do you find eating the same things everyday to be a nightmare and prefer to eat what you want, but keep up with it by counting everything or do you stick to a more bro-diet like me to keep the headache out? Or do you just say "fuck it" and eat what you want, when you want?

Your totaly right about the cals in versus cals out i wont argue with you on that. However when eating "junk" just because your trying to gain weight will make u feel worse, performe worse, sleep worse, recover worse, poop worse etc. generaly healthy foods have higher amounts of phyto chems, fiber, nutrients basicly just all your micros which as im sure you know are extremly important and u dont get thru a multi what u do thru the real thing. That being said i eat whatever the fuck i want lol unless its dairy or wheat since im allergic to it. I spend 4ish hours 5-6 days a week in the gym, i got to stay same somehow.

I don't count calories or really manage my diet. I think it goes into how your body handles what you eat. I have high metabolism so I'm lucky that I can get away with eating whatever and still be lean. Now, I do bust my ass 6 days a week at the gym, but that is a lifestyle that I've only been doing for the last 3-4 years. I think I mentioned in a previous post my "before weight lifting" body information. I don't have it off the top of my head currently but even then I was around 150 lbs and stayed constant at that weight and around 16% body fat. Now that I have added working out I stay at 160 and below 10% body fat. I by no means "eat like crap" but I do eat what I want when I want. I've tried different "clean" diets or cutting alcohol for months at a time (I only drink on weekends currently, but that's so I don't become an alcoholic)but really saw no differences by doing such. To each their own I guess

    My morning...

Tire flips, barbell cleans, squat punches with bag, jump rope, kettle bell swings, sprints, burpees, and sledge hammer slams on tire.

I agree 100%. With my cutting diet I've been on since Jan, I've really focused on micros, as well as macros and I feel a lot better. I sleep better, recover better, and (knock on wood) stay healthier. I really don't like vegetables, so I drink 16 oz of low sodium V8 everyday (4 cups of vegetables) and eat the hell out of white and black beans. My potassium is through the roof and my blood pressure is super-low now just from that. Micros definitely matter. Even if I start adding in "dirty" foods again, I'm not going to neglect my micronutrients.

I used to have a really high metabolism, but it's slowed down a lot since I've gotten into my 20's. I was 140 lbs and ~10% bodyfat from about 13-20 and then I started working out and eating like a beast and got up to 209 and ~16% bodyfat. Now, I'm 186 and ~12% bodyfat with a goal of 9-10%.

Alcohol is what really kills my diet, though. I've only drank on the weekends since 21 (26 now) and it just hinders it soooo much for me. I don't eat when I drink and if I'm hungover the next day, I usually eat like shit and don't train…that being said, everyone in college drinks all the time and I'm only 5 months out of college, so I'm adjusting to only drinking on special occasions. I just didn't see the point in busting my ass 5 days a week and then taking 2 steps back every weekend. I'm currently in day 7 of no alcohol and I plan on going to the 4th of July. I'm excited to see how much my body changes in that 6 weeks.
