What kind of camper do you have?

I very much agree. The 33's don't look right with my lift.

2014 Casita 17ft

 

Very nice rig! (Ok, the ones shown in this thread are ALL nice rigs). That is about the same size combo as mine, and it pulls really well. I really like the fact that these size rigs can sneak into smaller, rustic campgrounds. I almost made a mistake and bought a 27' that was only slightly heavier than my Nomad, but recent trips showed how physically awkward it would have been in the places I like to camp. Actually had difficulty backing my 22' into a site last weekend because of a narrow camp road, and all the trees. But made it; glad I went small!

 

I wanted the Casita; searched and searched, couldn't find one used. Apparently the owners bond for life with these. Looking at the pics, I think I see why.

 

Here is our 2012 VRV. All aluminum, I wouldn't have it any other way!

 

I also searched for a used one then i quickly learned how much they hold their value and how scarce they are to find used. So for a couple grand more i ordered a new one. My wife and i love it. We just returned from a week of camping in the Smokey mountains of Tenn. As you can see i'm a big guy and even though it's a small camper it's perfect for my wife, dog and I. I even shower in my casita.

Thanks Dave. Yep, it's my first and I'm super happy with it. I was also thinking about Casita, but relatively short distance to Chilliwack, BC compared to the long haul to Rice, TX heavily influenced my decision once I decided on fiberglass.

 

I like this thread. Loving all the Scamps/Casitas/Escapes. Here's my Northern Lite 6'10" slide-in.

 

I really want a fiberglass camper. Have been comparing Casita with the Egg, L'il Snoozy, and the Scamp. Had not heard of the Escape, but I live in FL so maybe it's not advertised here. Anyone have any feedback on the others mentioned here?

 

I think they're all good and you can't go wrong with any of them. If you are buying new buy form the company that gives you the best deal and servicing opportunity or if you are buying used when you find a good deal, jump on it. I believe Escape is a BC (Canada) based company and relatively new.

 

How do you like that camper....handling and what not? It looks good on the truck.

 

Thanks. Yeah I love it. Aside from the way the stock suspension handles the weight (very jerky) it handles great. Cornering, acceleration and braking are hardly affected at all. I will be OME'ed up in a couple weeks and I'm sure I will notice a huge difference still but as is, it's fine. I'm just looking for something smoother because my wife is sick and has a bad neck so traveling in the truck is hard enough for her as it is. About a 10-15% hit on fuel economy which is not bad at all. Basically what you'd expect for hauling around 750 lbs. It seems to cut through the wind very well.

 

Just bought a Rockwood 2306. Installed P2 brake controller this evening. Have to install mirrors and get WD hitch this week to take delivery next weekend.

 

I recently purchased a left over 2013 minnie winnebago. Weighs in about 3300 lbs dry. It's the 1801FB model. I have a WDH and the tacoma pulls it fine.

 

I wish they still offered the 15

 

15. Is that the no shower/no shitter option? I like all of them and weight certainly isn't an issue.
