    I do too. 1st-gen-tacomas are way better. Ive read several posts where guys are getting rid of their second gens to get first gens.

    1996 Regular cab domelight upgrade today. The new unit came out of a 2nd gen 4Runner and 100% bolt in/plug in deal just need the sheet metal screws from the 4Runner and cut an "X" in the headliner on each side to make clearance. I will eventually put the regular cab dome light into my 1999 extended cab for upgrade #2.

    Do you have an extended cab or regular cab? I do not know if the extended cabs have a plug behind the headliner in the vicinity of the rearview mirror or not. If not, it will have to be wired in using a pigtail and the plug from the donor vehicle.

    No. When I retro-fitted a 'mirror with personal light' , there was no wiring at all. I added a power wire to the new unit from the stock dome light (carefully fished it above the roof covering). Works well, but the personal light does not have the 'door-open' functionality (which I don't need anyway)

    Rotated the tires and noticed slop in the steering rack.:( I'm pretty sure it's the Itre, the outers still have no play.
