Double Cab rear storage boxes

I searched but did not come up with anything. I was wondering if anyone had removed a/both rear seat(s) and converted it to some sort of a storage area. Rarely do I have anyone back there, and I think it would be a great storage area if I took out one side and built some sort of storage box. for water/fridge...

Wasn't ever able to find anything, but I took out the larger seat, built a bottom platform, mounted a water tank and pump and finally got around to finishing most of the plumbing tonight.

I will be building a panel to cover the front and a lid for the top to fill through as well as a simple water level gauge so I can see how much is in there. In front of that I have the tie downs for a cooler (eventually a fridge).

I ran the line to the bed so far and will be running it to the rear of the topper and then figuring out some sprayer/faucet solution.

As promised, got some spare time... Its not perfect, but not bad for only having access to a sawzall. Going to add a simple water gauge on the front somewhere so I can see how full it is, and still working on figuring out what type of nozzle/faucet to put at the rear.

Theres a lot more room there than it looks like. I could've made the cover 2" farther back without changing much, but it was easier for what I was doing. I also had the 3/4" plywood mounted on the back cab wall and then a 3/4" (or 1/2") styrofoam insulation between the tank and the plywood to protect it from scratches/punctures.

And, one could always take out both storage boxes, keeping the rear seats and sneak a setup back there but I wanted room for the cooler/future fridge.

 

Figured I would throw this in here as well. Started other projects and finally got around to getting the water setup to actually work.

I used an air manifold block for two different water faucets that I wanted. Loc-Line for a flexible faucet to fill bottles/pans/wash hands that can be bent out of the bed. Then the coiled air hose to be able to wash things outside the truck like my bike after a ride or whatever else may need washing. It works great, has good pressure and I'll probably mount it up on top of the cab sill so its more out of the way, but for now I just wanted something quick to make sure it works well. There is a bit of sloshing when offroading but I got used to it.



The larger of two spouts the Loc-Line came with... smaller one would shoot a stream about 15' which was too much for what I wanted it for.

I have been looking for a rear seat removal for drawer system that I can still have my dog platform on. Searching all day, guess I need to design my own though. Anyone have any links let me know.

 

my concern with running a large water tank in the passenger compartment would be hearing the sloshing of water when the tank's not full and riding off road....have you found that to be much of an issue?
