Or you can find a lake that you might just have all to yourself if you are lucky, then you can do this all day......

Hah. You need a snowmobile and a tow rope. It'll change your life.

Snowmobiles are fun but they make me nervous. I draw the line with those. Saw some people seriously mess their faces up in my early 20's riding them too fast, haven't really wanted to ride them again since then.

EDIT: Besides, with every passing year, my ass needs the exercise of hoofing it anyway more and more, if I wanna keep making up to see those mt goats every year!! : )

Or you could explore this area, but you'll have to carry your dog over the steel bridges......

Anything is dangerous if you're a tard.

I've been to the exact places many of these pics were taken. The fossil beds are kind of cool. Feels like it's another planet up that canyon.

I agree, the fossil beds are very cool! Photos definitely do not do it justice. I felt like I was in what I'd imagine the Middle East to be like all of a sudden! Crazy how diverse the landscape is in Oregon from one area to another.

I agree about the tard thing too. They are a lot of fun, and I know tons of people use them all the time (especially over your way) responsibly and safely. I will probably come around on that someday. Not now though.

Was that you that mentioned trying to get up to Olive Lake recently? I remember seeing a post about that, I think on this thread. We haven't explored that area much yet but want to. N. Fork JD river trail, the 5 trillion lakes up on the Anthony loop (well except we did make it to one of them as you know ;)), and I remember Olive being one of the ones I wanted to get to. How are the skeeters up there? How are the crowds? How big of a lake is it? Nice views? Blow up boats only?

You ever explore the strawberry areas? Haven't been through there much yet either but want to.

I love never running out of options of cool stuff to go see and do. That, in a nutshell, is why I f*ing love Oregon. :D

And whatever you do, if you are in eastern Oregon, EAT HERE. Favorite restaurant ever period for sure the end yummy drooling now. :hungry: OMG you will leave bursting full of the best food AND have giant boxes of the best leftovers of your life. Leftover prime rib/filet mignon and cheese sammies the next day = :D

I hope this place stays in business forever. Go eat there, seriously, you will not regret it!

Super fresh yummy salad bar in a giant wagon, which comes with steak chili, baked beans, these yummy rolls with cheese they call "cowboy bread", and giant servings of the best meat and potatoes meal you could dream of. Paradise after a long day of hiking. :D

Haines Steakhouse is the bomb! Also since you are near Baker you should go to one of the best brewery/ pubs on the West Coast, Barley Browns!

Olive lake is cool if you get there right when the snow melts. No motor boats allowed, but it is a popular campground in the summer. Weekdays you have it all to yourself. Bring the crawdad traps! It's a bad bug year in Oregon. Mild winter with lots of spring rains=bugs.

I have been all over Strawberry. It's a nice (short) hike to Strawberry lake from the Prairie City side, good camp spots at the lake (also mountain goats). There is also little strawberry lake that is worth the hike. On the south side of the mountain, there is slide lake that is awesome fishing and has many reports of yeti sightings. The south side is my favorite. Canyon Mt. trail is amazing, but be prepared as it will only be you and what you bring for 28 gnarly miles. I have never met another two legged hiker on it, or even seen tracks for that matter.

    Agree!! Love that place!!

We also tried Burger Bob's Drive In last time we were over there. Food was great, very greasy as expected. Bob had a photo on the wall of someone "chuking." Eric asked what it was about, and Bob explained that "chuking" is a form of puking and choking from overeating. :D

I think BC needs a German restaurant!! Would be cool to open one there. :)
