cold air intake

Dose anyone have a CAI on there super charger?? If so any problems and what do you think of the performance? is it worth getting it?

 

I'm too scared to put the CAI with my supercharger, besides, i'm pretty stoked with the existing super charger power already, I would imagine the CAI would be added for mostly noise not power.

lol you guys. I have an 09 w/ the trd supercharger. I threw on the TRD cai myself as i didnt want to have any warranty issues ( work is noted on all records at stealership obviously ) my service guy loved it, even the service manager said that the oem box for the supercharger is crazy restrictive. A cai on a stock 4.0 is for noise. A cai for a supercharged 4.0 is a must have as the taco w/ a blower is really starved for air with the oem box. To make things clear, the reason why TRD says that they are not compatible is not because it'll pop your engine or throw off the trd tune. Its because the TRD blower is 50 state emissions compliant and the cai is not. Hence adding the cai technically makes the setup "illegal" atleast in cali

Throttle response is 100x better w/ the trd cai.

I've never driving my truck with the stock intake and supercharger I've only ever had the trd intake installed even when I took the truck in for the re-flash.

 

so any problems at all are you getting better gass milage with the cai rather than the oem intake and do i hav e to do anything to it after i put it on?

...The AFR ranges for every vehicle, not only that the '09's have a couple differences in the blower kit/tuning...I want to throw mine on a dyno but thats a little hard with a long bed truck . I just threw on the cai and cranked her over thats it. The combination looooooves cold weather. Emissions warranty is a big thing in states like cali but here in illinois its not a big deal at all. Hell look at the sema tacoma TOYOTA themselves had on display. It had their TRD supercharger and TRD cai. If toyota is doing it than you know it wont hurt the engine its just an emissions issue.

 

I beg to differ. If you put on a CAI with your SC you'll definitely get more HP as well as better MPGs.

Yes, the sound is increased, but it's a throaty, mean, attractive sound at that. You can combat this by dynamating your hood if it really bothered you, but IMHO, I think the gains far outweigh the negatives.

 

That hardly makes sense, especially with all the fact-based information out there about performance gains. It's not like this is some magnet you put on your fuel line to realign the molecules, lol.

We're talking about allowing your engine to BREATHE.

i hear people all the time say that a CAI is just for noise.... this is completely bs, i want to say its prob the best performance per dollar upgrade you can do, the reason company's dont do it from the factory is it doesnt pass the noise regulation plus most people dont want to hear it, i personally love the sound of a nice intake. there are facts upon facts that there is a performance gain on intakes, the colder more dense air you can put in a engine the more power it will make!!!!!
