Where you at? I did it on my first gen, it isn't too bad. Are you a 1st or second gen?

 

Looks like he's a second gen.

 

I live in Pinole, need to order the parts. Probably this week. Been 1000 miles since lift. Started a week after lift. 2nd gen 2015. Also need to CMC.

Will old man emu coil springs work with bilsteins 5100 series adjustable shocks.
I've called a few places some say yes and other are saying no. Just need a straight answer from anyone that knows.

 

Yes, you just have to make sure the billies are set to "0" (stock height).

 

That's what I got from wheelers when I called.
Two shops I've called say they can't.
Just going to go to one and tell them to put them on and leave on lowest setting.

 

Yes they will. But not a great ride. I got rid of mine and bought Nitrochargers. Must better.

And set the Bilsteins on zero.

 

Was the ride just rough or did it have others issues

 

First, it was a 1st gen, so there may be a tiny bit of difference there.

However, it felt great at first, huge improvement over worn out stock progressive coils and the "stock" HD Bilsteins that came on TRDs.

But I swear it got harsher and harsher and harsher. After about 10k miles I gave up on them and swapped in the nitros. Ride quality was the only issue I experienced, but I didn't take it out and beat it on trails, just mild offroad at that time.

Just consider this: why would you not use OME coils with OME shocks when they are engineered to go together?

 

Also need to make sure to get the right coils. Check the OME coil weights and get the appropriate ones for your truck.

 

That being said, I ran 5100's with OME 885s and loved it while I had them. Then I got real coilovers and realized what I was missing. But for a budget build they are awesome.

 

For the record, your ride WAS harsher because you went from worn down shocks and coils to brand new offroad suspension lol. It probably felt like it was getting harsher and harsher because you kept expecting it to return to your old shocks feeling and it never did. Happens quite often

 

Well, no. I had no reason or expectation for it to return to soft shit in 10k miles. And the Nitorchargers have been great since day one. But thanks for playing.

 

Lol ok, glad your suspension got firmer as you rode it over 10k miles, that suddenly makes perfect sense

id never own OME anything, i prefer non tank like ride quality.

 

Well, my first suspension upgrade was 5100s on all 4 corners with stock leafs and OME 885s, which were nice and stuff but could do some pretty good high speed stuff...but I knew I was buying an offroad suspension so I expected it to be stiff. Then I moved on to nice foxes all around. Now I'm picking up LT King shocks for the final go - round hehe

 

Anybody hear from Shaggs lately? I don't post in here all that much, but I haven't seen him around for awhile.
