Honestly they are great. Highway performance far surpasses that of the km2s and although the mud and snow performance is a little lower than a true mud tire, it works fine for my needs. My only complaint is that even though they are the same size as the km2s they are about 1-1.5" shorter.

Yeah the mud at expo was pretty bad. Especially out in the "commoners" camp area. Most of the vendors were setup near the campground where the roads and paths had some gravel to help keep it under wraps. The rest of us were sent out into the historic lake bed to camp.

 

Made my purchase today... Can't wait for it to arrive. Hurry up UPS!

 

Its been awhile since I posted in here but I took the truck out to play around a little this last weekend and get some photos of the racks. Figured I would share a few here.

I have been working on one for about a year now. I am really slow with new products. The half or 3/4 length one is done. Basically just a toprac with different feet. Its the full length that is giving me heartache cause I am trying to make it non drill.

are you getting 17-18 mpg with your current setup?! I'm only getting about 15 and i don't have any additional weight other than sliders and other small misc additions...

 

Most of the time yes. If I have a tank where there is a lot of city driving I am usually closer to 15 or 16 but if I drive highway mostly I hit 17 and 18. On long trips if I keep it below or near 65 I get 18 consistently. I usually go to 350 miles before I fill up and usually have a gallon or more left.

On top of that I have larger tires that supposedly throw off the speedometer and odometer without calibration. I haven't re calibrated so technically I am going a bit further than that. I don't completely understand that whole concept or how much more it accouts too though.

I have skinny 33s. I drive like a grandma though. If I drive faster or accelerate faster mine drops fast. Down to 14-15.

I also noticed that during the winter I am down into the 15 range more often.

 

Multiply your odometer by 1.04 and that will equal your true mileage on 255's.

 

Thanks for the conversion. I have been meaning to figure it out but haven't gotten around to it.

Winter is lower because of the additives.

With my 255s I get 17-18 babying it hwy and on long trips. 15-17 normal driving around the mountains where I live. And even lower if I'm in a hurry.

 

What's the load range on your tires Zach? 255s are pretty narrow and if they aren't too heavy I doubt they'd impact your mpg much. Also, I believe your truck is pretty light compared to most of ours which makes a big difference in town.

I hit 16.5 on the highway a couple weeks ago and was pretty amazed at the fuel savings if you keep it under 60. I got 10mpg at 75 on a hilly freeway last weekend.

 

So I see that you have a bedrack as a current project. Any word on when that may be available?

 

The 255's are load range E so they are a heavy lightweight. Not sure the exact weight though. As for the truck I doubt I am much lighter that the majority of people. With steel front and rear bumpers, sliders, a shell, dual batteries, both racks on top of the truck, the bedslide, full size spare under the bed, 4 gallons of fuel in the bed, 4 gallons of water in the bed, etc. I have a pretty decent load in the bed most days too hauling parts back and forth.

Those with 35's and a swing out may beat me but when I had my swingout I didn't lose any mileage.

 

They are build to order and really depend on my time. A couple of them are already out there. @scott96929 is the only one who is real active on the forum that I know of and I am working on one now for @Overkill07.
