    I do some light wheeling in the warmer months, but the only real getting stuck occurs in snow. I have a winch, but it's often just easier to yank one vehicle out with another.

    What's the general rule when choosing which weight rating in a strap. I assume it's a multiple of the heaviest vehicle you plan to pull out. 2x, 3x...?

    Looking at ARB, but open to suggestions. Thank you!

    I was always told that you want a strap rated for 3x the weight of the lightest vehicle, because if you go too heavy of a strap, it won't have any of the stretch to it, and it would be like yanking with a chain. Being that the Tacoma is pretty light when compared to other trucks, I went off my own truck's weight, figuring I'd be lighter than any truck pulling or being pulled.

    Ahh.... that makes sense. The thought crossed my mind that if I bought the 33k pound strap, it might be a little "stiff". I can get 2 17.6k straps for the price of that 33k strap.

    ARB website doesn't say how long the straps are. Anyone know?

    @RacecarGuy , what brand did you go with?

    Is there a noticeable difference in quality?

    Bubba seems to market by breaking strength, how do I use this to decide? My curb weight is 5440.

    I recommend nothing under 20K lbs. And definitely don't get one with the metal hooks on the ends. Get one with loops. The ARB ones should be fine.

    The 30' strap is $45.00

    As far as the Wrap-It Strap. That one is a 2 Ply Polyester that has a Third Outer Shell Layer of Cordura for Extra Abrasion Resistance (my own design :rolleyes:). It also includes a 3/4" Shackle.

    When doing a recovery where you are hooking two vehicles together, yes you want the strap to stretch. It stores energy as you pull, and then the spring back/snatch helps to get the stuck vehicle unstuck without the harsh yank of chains.

    For a winch extension you would want a strap that has minimal stretch, but from my experience a standard recovery strap still works great.

    I have a tree service and do a lot of work with cables and static straps. I'm looking for a dynamic strap for recovery. @YotaDan , I noticed last night while looking at your straps on your website that you say they have a very slight stretch. I'm wondering about the logic of that. Is it so your straps can serve the dual purpose of snatch and winch extension? I like the feature where the red shows when the material has been compromised.

    They are Nylon for stretch. Very similar to the ARB or other straps, although ours are Made In USA. The "slight stretch" basically means that you are getting some useful recoil out of them as well as pulling ability with out just being a big rubber band. You are able to drive into the strap without the harsh yank of a chain or cable. They are not meant as a winch extension, but I have used them in both manners many a time. Our Recovery Straps also include a Cordura Slider in case you have to pull over a rock or against a tree.

    I thought I'd just give a quick first impression.

    I haven't actually used the strap yet, but...

    This strap appears to be of the highest quality. As posted earlier I have a small quiver of static straps for my tree service, but this strap exceeds all of my others in quality of construction. The loops are doubled back further, the stitching looks much beefier, and the cordura reinforcement seems much more burly. I also really like the free floating piece in case the strap has to be up against an obstacle. Also, the red thread that lets you know the strap is toast before it breaks is an excellent feature.

    I'm going to have a tough time not using this strap for work. Thanks @YotaDan !

    Got involved in a recovery on Sunday that involved all my straps and just got around to inspecting and knocking the dust out of them. Of course the one that took the abrasion damage was my newest one. What do you all think? Do I need to replace that one based on the damage?

    It is of course up to your discretion, but if it was my strap I wouldn't think twice about it, and just keep using it. I do keep a brand new one buried in the bottom of my tool box, just in case I end up needing it.
