No we just know what works for the trails out here having wheeled on them for the past 16yrs!! I'm not saying links suck, I'm saying is that links aren't the answer for everyone and you can get leafs to work fine and not have to remortgage your house to get a link setup, instead of a blanket statement like "fuck leafs, links FTW".

Much rather spend money on drivetrain upgrades so i don't have to wrench on the trail, and beer for the campsite!

You had a booty fabbed skyscraper, of course putting a good link suspension on it will be like night and day.

I changed it because it didn't work... "tuned it" per-say. I never ran TG springs, they are way too stiff. I ran Marlin Crawler springs for the first 3 years and after that I bought Davez offroad custom toyota leafs. It could of used better shocks, that I can't deny.

Links aren't the answer, never said they were, they are however, far better. Neither did I say "Links FTW"... I did say fuck leafs, simply because they are an outdated design IMO and I was so fed up with there BS - the axle wrap, the unloading when you accelerate, poor ride quality, etc etc. There's a reason why people go to links, just like doing a D60... just better and less headache in the long run. I wouldn't say my truck was a "booty fabbed skyscraper" perhaps when it was first built I will admit definitely, the guy who built it was a moron. After me and Mark fixed those issues years ago it was great. Still never felt that stable though. Problem is the leafs will not flex enough in the front which then starts tipping the vehicle which then picks up the rear tire and then makes you feel tippy. I don't get that with links, shit just stays planted, and if it doesn't it stills feels controlled. And honestly, this is a booty fabbed link suspension... 3 guys built it that have never done links in their life with 4 days to do so :anonymous: Y'all get so upset about the dumbest shit :p

It is, I have yet to find a build thread on it though. I did find out that he's running All Pro 5" springs in the front. He's also running a similar wheelbase as me. What are you at Eric? I'm debating whether or not to shorten mine up while I have the mounts off.

I'm at 125ish... maybe 125.5. HATE IT. I'd love to be 120 or 118. When I link the rear I'll be moving it forward. If I were you, I'd move it forward since you don't have a gas tank there any more. Only problem is then ya gotta get a shorter DS made, move around some brakeline stuff too... petty things really.

Yeah I'm at 127" and I'm thinking of shortening it up to 120". I want to lower it a little but I can't at this wheelbase. I was dragging my belly on everything last trip out to Gulches. What sucks is I just got the .250 wall driveshaft built and I could have shortened it and it not cost any extra... now it will be about $75. Wish I would have made up my mind about the wheelbase sooner. To get it to 120" I'll have to shorten the sliders too.

Lol yeah today I just said fuck it and dove in headfirst. I need to figure out if I'm still going to do creeper joint style rear hangers or try and save what I have and reuse it. Hardest part will be cutting 7" out of the frame and getting it lined back up to weld by myself. Instead of just cutting 7" off the rear of the frame I'm going to cut it out of the middle somewhere so I don't have to rebuild the tail light section, hitch, ect.

That is awesome. I wanted to make it there this year, but work was too slow for the last six months and I couldn't afford it. I estimated about $1300 just in fuel for the trip.
