New tech always wins over old tech on the track.

I'd still rather have the R34. That was my dream car as a teenager and still sits right up with the 300zx Twin Turbo. I had posters of both cars on my walls. The 300zx motor,

The Fairlady Z, Skyline, RX-7 and the Supra were the tuners to rival American muscle. Unfortunately the Skyline never had a chance to be a part of those days in Murica.
I believe these cars played a huge part in the turbo revolution that followed them. Now you see more twin turbo and less supercharged and Nitrous cars breaking the records.

Did you ever see the comparison Top Gear did a few seasons back. Out of the box, new super cars and general sports cars cannot compete with their older counterparts. Apples to apples minus the vehicles age.

However, start dumping container loads of cash at any vehicle, and that's another story.

Didn't they take that Jaguar and put a ton of nitrous on it for that episode?

No that was when the black Stig died. They compared new nissans, ferraris, and a few others .
