I have a 2006 TRD and been losing power and bogging down after driving for 30 minutes. I stop it let it set for a few minutes and start it back up and full power is restore, but then the problem gets frequent after that. I change the spark plugs and got more power but problem still there. I was looking in checking the fuel filter but found out it's not supposed to be change. Anybody know what's going on?

Sounds like what our 2000 4Runner did years back. Alternator was crapping out. But hard to say if that's your issue.

Pulled the battery cable while running and it kept running. Seems to be working.

Gas mileage ok, I take it there are no codes or check engine light? When it stops running poke your head under there and check out the cat's. When they plug up they run super hot, and could have symptoms similar to yours. I would suspect a check engine light would be triggered though.

How about engine temperature in general, needle doesn't move? Do you have a scanguage or anything that gives a temp readout?

Not a good idea. The electronics do not like power surges. I would not make it a habit.

Do you have the Check Engine Light on? Have you checked for any CEL Codes or Pending Codes?

Thanks guys going to try your advise and see if cat or maybe a fuel pressure issue, when it stops raining today. Had a abs sensor go out so all my lights been on, but the engine temperature been normal. Been letting it idle this morning, same thing has plenty of power for about half an hour, but now I hit the gas and it's bogging down.

Have seen this issue before on other vehicles, I would bet if you hook a fuel pressure gauge up it will read normal until it sucks the dirt in the tank around the fuel pump sock and restricts gas flow. Causing your complaint of loosing power after extended drive time. After you shut the truck off the dirt floats away from the sock and restores normal pressure and drivability.

    Hope this helps good luck.

Why would there be dirt in the fuel tank. Unless he is getting his gas from a rusted out 55 gallon drum or a third world country. I have never seen a modern fuel tank that was dirty on the inside. Esp a composite tank.
