Do it! I talked about it for years before I finally pulled the trigger. Its totally worth the drive, actually, if you do it right, the drive can be just as fun.

The Squeeze claimed one door. But this was nothing compared to what the FJ did the next day.

And poor tube doors got to climb the ascent in the rain.

We all got to climb the last ascent in the wet and the mudd as we watched the river flash flood next to us.

You guys suck haha. Was planning on coming out next year. But decided to pay the truck off before the trip and lockers. Sooooo looks like RT 17 I'll be there. Hopefully.

 

you don't NEED lockers... every trail I did there was someone OPEN/OPEN with us... Kokopelli, Gold Bar, Golden Spike, Top of the World, Fins N Things... the traction is UNREAL... much of the carnage is because people didn't respect the traction. I used my locker under 10 times all trip... and almost every time was because I wanted to... rather than needed to

 

Truth^ i only hit the easy button when i couldn't get up a ledge. Its crazy how much traction you have out there on the "slick rock"!

 

Yeah, but when that rain came that button got alot more popular

 

yeah for me, I only really got rain on the way DOWN TOTW... still used it... but @TheNatural was open open and made it just fine... so it was still more want than need

 

Everyone wheels different, but, if I think an obstacle might need a locker, i turn it on. I found every time i tried something out there without the locker I ended up hopping, scary thing to do that far from home.

 

I walked out of mickies hot tub last year with no issues. Hells highway hot tub on the other hand I have broke something in that hot tub every time ive been in it and that is my sign to not attempt it anymore.

 

Only cuz I was pulling line for both of our trucks. but I winched twice and he winched 3 times.
I could have only winched once if I had stacked a few rocks at the bypass for rock pile.

 

Konsta did you line up and try to crawl rock pile? I crawled up it got my front tires on top, then my rear bumper got so wedged with the ground it wouldn't move no matter what I tried. I had my pal pull me enough to un wedge my rear bumper, then I crawled it!

 

no I didn't I probably should have but we where still in fear of that rain storm dumping on us so we just got the EF out of there.
Had there been a winch point I would have been all over it. Next year for sure im going to at least try it.

Edit: the more I look at this pic the more im pisses for not trying it. I have more ground clearance in the rear and a longer wheel base front tires would have been up it by the time the rear tires started to climb.

WTF people... 100+ trucks... and only on page 12 of the Pics Thread? and most of that's been BS

 

I think you could of got it! I know am running 40s and stretched my wheel base to 125.5 so I might not get wedged to the point of being stuck! I wheeled with this guy in a built Dakota I bet his wheel base was 136 and he went right up it. He had a lot of lift and 39s.

 

This whole work thing sucks! I may have time to dig through some this weekend.
