Believe the OP should provide a bit more information.
My guess as OZ-T stated, most likely the trip odometer was being viewed and some action caused it to change to the odometer (true miles).

My commute is about 63 miles RT with maybe 3-4 times a month on Metro into DC during the week.

I have a completely stock DC Off Road

And no it was not the trip odometer as that was my first thought and was ruled out.

Now back on 5/3/2015 @ my last oil change Odometer was 20,981 a month later its 27,871 I have been averaging about 1,600-1,700 miles per month. And with one RT to Charlotte NC of about 900 miles in May for the Coke 600.

Mid May I did have a funky issue with the battery/charging system where the cabin lights were dim and truck was very slow to turn over when cranking first thing in the mornings and Toyota replaced the battery.

Saturday morning I will take it over to a local shop that calibrates Speedo's to find out if anything may be wrong before I take it to the dealer at 2:30 for my service appt.

Do you have minutes which you do not remember or can't account for? Were you passing through mountains? It is very possible you might have been abducted by aliens during those miles....just saying, even UFOs like Tacomas

Would it be possible that something is wrong with the ECU or some kind of other relay associated with something to the mileage readings?

Do you reset your trip meter every time you refuel? A&B? If not I would say OZ might be right on the money

    Yeah.
That is very odd, let us know what you find out. Trip odometer on my '12 rolls back over to zero at 10K miles, so that shouldn't be it.

Again it is not the trip Odometer and yes I do reset them with each refuel unless I am on a road trip and I only will do one.

Okay this may sound dumb but do the readings have anything to do with ABS to combine the mileage with the ECU since it is picked up at the wheels for mileage?
