Wow, this is turning into an interesting thread.

Hockey1Chick ... There is nothing wrong with the stock tires or tire pressure.

Buy yourself a Lincoln Navigator and you would likely have the same problems.

Have I offended you? if so my apologies as my 'ignorance and stupidity' was not in reference to you (u had some real valuable replies to this thread) but some lame replies in my true concern and my wanting to learn how to maintain my truck.
As for u serving this beautiful country --- I have nothing but utmost respect.

Just a suggestion, but you might want to take a mechanically knowledgeable male with you if you expect quality service....
and I can say that cause I'm a girl ;).

Good luck, glad this site has provided you with some knowledge of your truck and to help keep you and others safe on the roads.

...I have an open diff on my Tacoma and it doesn't do anything like you are describing...I think that is your LSD working. If I take a corner in the rain too fast with no traction my truck just slides, no bucking, no loss of power feeling.
I've driven my bf's truck in the rain and he has LSD and I've never had it engage around a corner, maybe you should slow down on wet streets.

Ever considered having someone familiar with driving a truck teach you how to handle it?? There are alot of Tacoma owners in Cali, might be someone near you willing to help you out. What does your bf drive?
    :burnrubber:
One of the members on here was very helpful teaching me how capable my truck is offroad and how to manage having a open diff in offroading situations...on road driving was no problem, but I had never offroaded in my truck ;).

do you notice that because of the extra weight on the drivers side the passenger side tire tends to spin alot more than the drivers. I've also found that i can only powerslid if i turn left to compensate for the weight difference. I've got to get a limited slip this one wheel drive thing is pissing me off.

lol yeah if you got a lil speed its not hard but going too slow try to turn right and give gas nothing but wheel spin on the one side.

FYI before someone slaps my peepee. i don't do this shit on the streets its usually just when i'm screwing around on an empty backroad or something

Actually since I've upgraded tires I find it very hard to get them to spin much at all...and I've slid it both directions. I don't seem to have a problem having an open diff, I'm not a big fan of 'electronic assisting driving controls'. My friend has a 4 runner with electronic everything and that think buzzes and flashes and does all kinds of weird shit...no thanks I'd rather be in control and learn to drive my way.

Thought maybe he was calling me fat :notsure:...

I saw the first half of that movie, I need to watch the entire thing, it was cute. :)

The beetles were pointed out to me, I never would have thought it would be a good adult movie, but I was enjoying it.

Your hint made it rather obvious

Oh yes, it would take a lot more than that to offend me......:drunk:

What baffles me is this -- a few yrs ago I owned an F250 and had no problem with it in the rain -- but then again everything was stocked

My husband owns an Infiniti Coupe G35 and knows nothing about upkeeping a truck. Ask him anything about his car and he can put u to sleep, as for my truck it's a learning process for the both of us and that is why we value this site.

As for u, chickie --- u are soo knowledgeable --that is totally awesome! I have been termed 'weird', tomboy-ish (by other women of course) be cus of my hobby of mod-eing my truck and the fact that i own a truck ("errw why a truck --trucks are made for men") it's great to see another chick who not only owns a truck but has this much knowledge!!! thank u thank u for all ur advice and opinions!! :)

oh that explains it --so that is one of the downside of owning a tacoma seeing we are lighter at the back ?

Btw i messed up when i answered ur post if u look at the shaded part --i also answered ur question about me swaying off the freeway.

so what does the 5150 stand for ? Sammy Hagar?! :)

If I recall right isn't an F250 in the 12,000 pound range? That's a huge difference from a taco being around 4,000 pounds.
