No, you could not handle my normal personality. LMAO! Count on one thing, if you go to your dealer and tell him you touch your truck doing what you been talking about here and you also tell him you have had your shop friends looking and touching your truck you are going to be shit out of luck. The first thing you will have to prove to the dealer is that you didn't put these miles on your truck.

I touch my truck everyday so I don't think that will be an issue. If having my truck "looked" at by someone other than Toyota voids anything then that will be addressed at that time. I don't see where I have said anything other than having it looked and having the speedometer checked out.

Is the Alarm the issue I doubt it very seriously,could the installer have knocked some stuff loose when installed sure that is why I will have this checked before I go to the dealer.

If this ECU stored everything and I mean everything as noted it should very well see history data per time/day/month/year.They will be able to see every piece of data that occurred while this vehicle is/was running.

Yes, I will have to convince the dealer that I didn't drive these miles but with my current history of documentation I may have a chance at that.

Well some of us do. Mine has been finely honed for well over 50 years.

 

I think the ECU or black box is short lived as far as memory. Right or wrong? If that is true, then how much data is there to back up anything? Paper documentation cannot prove anything unless it was just done less then what it took to rack up that many miles.

I am with you on this as this would piss me off but good to see my miles go up like that. My truck is 2013 with 14,000 miles.

Ok so I was discussing this thread with my dad and this was his thought. I didn't read the last few pages but he had this thought...is it possible that the little LED lines died? Making the 3 look like a 7?

If the middle and bottom line are gone, it looks like a 7...



So if it's really still at 23k miles, you'll be able to tell when it rolls to 24k and it's missing the middle line in the 4.

this happened to my co-worker Ford. i assume it does happen, it jumped from 7k to 48 k miles. She ended up winning a lawsuit and dealer bought the car back, plus 5k.

 

Same thing is happening to my truck, it's just taking a lot longer.
