Colorado B.S. Thread

She passed away just a couple of weeks after you met her. We had been through every chemo available over 8 years & were on the last ditch effort which was an ancient oral chemo which the tumors didn't respond to. Ended up in the ER a couple of times (once right before you met her) & the second one was when we get confirmation of the worst fears. It took a few days to get her back on oral pain killers & meds so we could bring her home under care of Hospice. We brought her home on a Monday afternoon & she was gone the following Monday morning. It had been a pretty long 8-year battle but when it finally went it went quickly, thankfully. Still sorting through it all. Since I'm an only child of a single mother it's quite a shock to the system no matter how independent I have become. Two days later my best friend's little brother died in a car accident at only 22yrs old. I got out my phone to tell her & that's when it kind of hit me. Her goal for about a year & a half was to make Amanda & I's 10 year wedding anniversary vow renewal in Las Vegas. At the time her Oncologist & I thought it was a pipe dream. Even though my mom never wanted to know her oncologist had told me 2-3 months. There was several times in that year & a half where things looked pretty bleak but she pulled through somehow. Four days after she passed away we left for Vegas... with one empty seat on the plane next to us. It sucks that she made it so close but couldn't go. That was tough.

 

Damn Ost... my condolences. I can't imagine what you're feeling... My parents live in Oregon, and I see them once a year if I'm lucky... every time I leave, I'm nagged with the though that it may be the last time I see them... it's all I can ever think about for months after a visit...

Thanks man. Cherish your time with loved ones because you never know when it could change drastically or end all together. It's the part of life we wish we could all do without but the part of life we're all destined to experience eventually. I hold the fact that she's no longer in pain close to my heart and keep trying to convince myself that I did everything in my power to help her at every step which is helping me get through it. Don't put off that phone call, text message or visit. You may not get another chance.

 

Sorry you're going through that ost but I'm glad you all are at peace. And glad to have you back!

Well to avoid saying what you have already heard a million times, I will try a different angle: you are an excellent son. Your devotion in the final times is awe-inspiring. As you feel ready, I hope to see you out and about and hopefully you can copilot for me again.

 

And of course that accident happened in Utah. I don't wtf is up with that state, but they always have the weirdest accidents. Lol
