For those with Rotopax, are you leaving the mounts bolted to the rack year round? If so, how are they weathering? I am planning on leaving the fuel cell off the vehicle except for trips but wondering how the mounts will hold up with constant weathering.

Just a few expensive & DIY things...
Don't have the rack yet, but have had rotopax for 2+ years and they seem to do well. The white one [water] gets a bit dirty but seals well.
Keep some grease on standby [if you have the spinning locking handle on your mount] as the grease likes to collect dirt and grime

Did anyone else notice over on the Rock Therapy photo thread how well Loco's Prinsu rack held up in a violent, frame bending roll-over that totaled his truck? Amazing.

    Truth.

I'm surprised no one pulled it to try & tweak it back. Awesome piece.

Well its a land Cruiser with a diesel so I've got that going for me.
It's my belief that the Prinsu rack is part of the reason I walked away...the rack distributed the impact forces across the entire roof and kept the cab from collapsing. I cannot say enough good about the rack! It works great everyday and when rolling down a canyon a few times!

Hit a pot hole on the dirt road leaving BFE and it gave me a nice bump steer that pulled me into the shoulder and down the canyon... really sucked.

Indeed he does and it's stout! Blue Ridge Overland Gear has one installed on the roof of their LC80 and you'll see more of it when we release the first episode for Season 2 by the end of the month.

Not going to lie, as much as I am sad that Phil Tacoma is a goner, being able to show people those photos and see how well the rack ended up is pretty impressive. I am even surprised at how well it held up.

Here's a couple shots of some Frontrunner corner brackets that I mounted. They mount to the bars using the tie down ring on each corner. The tie down rings screw on to a grade 8 hex head bolt that slips into the bar. The bolt head is wider than the opening in the t slot bars, but can spin in there. I could still get the tie down rings snug, but I plan on adding an extra bolt and tslot anchor on each corner to ensure it's securely mounted. They are mounted so that each pair are mounted to a bar and a second bar sits next to the mount bars, with the second bars bearing the weight of whatever is mounted inside the brackets. As I type this, I realize I need to rotate the corner brackets 90 degrees, so that the mounting point is to the side, not in front/behind(if that makes sense). That should remove for a second bar next to each mounting bar.
Anyways, I have them spaced to fit a Plano storage box that I normally carry in the bed. I just wanted to have the extra option of mounting it up there. Also, with this setup, it's pretty easy to move the brackets side to side, or move the bars front/back.

You might also notice the new hardware. Using semi gloss black grade 5 steel cap screws from McMaster-Carr. A little pricey at $6.46 for 5, but I really wanted matching black hardware. I had sprayed the old black oxide button head screws (twice) with some hammered metal paint, but that wore off and started to rust. In fact, I waited a little too long to replace the hardware and stripped one screw that was seized. :-(. Hit it with PB Blaster too late, so I guess I'll need to drill it out and/or cut off the head with a dremel. Not looking forward to that, so leaving it in there for now....
