    when glass is solid it becomes opaque.

    if you can find a piece of glass window from an old house, measure the top of the window glass and the bottom for thickness. over time glass will slowly droop down :)

    I would think that the correct answer is "ICE" ?

    It is a liquid at rm temp
    It does have the ability to hold other liquids
    Not sure on the 98.8% thing but it is sometimes quite transparent.
    And it is very brittle at low temps?

    it expands and contracts readily
    used as a conductor
    used in medicine but is also toxic
