Lift questions

Pretty new to this sort of thing.. But truck needs a lift I guess, so I can put on my rims an tires on according to les swab looking to do something cheap.. Would this work?

Spacers are the cheap way to go but nowhere near high performance. The general rule I've gathered on this site is you get what you pay for.

 

OP most will tell you to stay away from a spacer and just do bilsteins. If you do a quick search you'll see there have been plenty of discussions about this. I have gone back and forth between spacers and bilsteins. I have read that spacers are fine if you are only doing daily driving and then I've also read that spacers are still bad for daily driving. So it really comes down to you I guess.

 

Bilstein Leveling/Lift kit is a cheap alternative that are decent quality. Much better than a spacer lift. You don't have to get crazy and get an ICON stage 7 setup though. All depends on what you use it for.

OP, will you be planning on off roading?

 

Mostly just daily driving, I need to lift to fit my new rims an tires on supposedly.. I dunno if Les Swab was just trying to blow smoke up my ass to get me to spend more money or if this is true.

 

I'm a diesel tech not auto so you dont have to take my advice but honestly I wouldn't bother with spacers. You don't need to get the top of the line either just do the bilsteins like the other guy said. Then slowly build your suspension from there.

 

As has already been stated its mainly what you will be using it for, if your not offroading sure not recommended but you'll be fine with it
Also how big of rim tire combo are you trying to throw on there?

yeah you will definitely need a lift personally if you can go billies I would take that route but if money is that tight go spacer I guess even with 3 inches of lift your probably gonna rub some plastic I have 285/70/17 and had to do a little trimming

 

I guess it depends on your daily driving style. I don't hesitate to drive over medians and curbs and shit. I treat my truck like a truck and I tow and haul shit so for me daily driving is a little more harsh. That's actually why I bought a tacoma. It's the only truck that can hold up. If you drive gently then I guess spacers might be fine but be careful if you haul or have shitty roads like the ones here in wisconsin

 

I think that's why in the end I'm gonna go with the billies.
