    Long answer is:

Look in your owners manual and make sure you don't overload the total GVWR, Axle weight rating, and GCVWR (when trailering)

Short answer is - about a thousand lbs ought to be roughly OK as long as you're not carrying a bunch of people or other stuff in the cab or trailering anything.

From others experience - the stock springs will sag a lot at that weight and you'll be on the bumpstops either all the time or over most bumps.

DCLB V6 4x4 is about 1250 lbs total if my memory is correct. I recently had about 900 lbs in the bed and never hit the bump stops, sag was not excessive.

This is good to know. Another member told me 600 l s would hit bump stops. I found it hard to believe and was considering another vehicle. 1000 lbs give or take seems reasonable. Maybe he had 600 lbs and was off roading.

Unfortunately those numbers are utter and complete BS for pretty much any configuration of truck you actually purchase. Look at the number on your door sticker to find out what the real payload is and expect it to be well below what the brochure and Toyota website claim. Expect it to be around 1040 to 1100 lbs for a 4x4. And that is total payload - so you need to account for the driver weight and any passengers as well. So you are down around 900 lbs with a driver.

But that's just the legal GVWR limits, lots of people run loads well above that. And of course many people end up with crushed leaf springs riding the bump with loads well below that too...

It is one of those unsatisfying "it depends" kind of answers. Sorry!

The 2015's must have better springs or maybe its just because they are newer. I've carried 700 lbs. of rocks in the back of mine several times with no issues at all.

The stock leaf packs are not really meant for doing work. If you plan to use your truck as a truck, upgrade. There are many options for the various uses - Air bags, high performance bump stop/ load assists, add a leaf, new leaf packs...

Toyota has to try to make the large market as happy as possible. Most of that market does not use this truck for work. I work my Taco, and it handles that work like a champ.

For a short trip from Lowes to home, over smooth roads and a set of railroad tracks, I had 1120lbs of conrete (14 80lb bags) with no hitting of the stops. 2010 4x4 DCSB with TSB springs. Hope this helps.

Air bags? Carry 6-700 lbs of tools daily, no problems with air bags and Wheelers HD 3 leaf AAL. Hook up the trailer often, no squat.

When my '11 was new, 600 lbs set it right down on the stops. Got the four leaf TSB and that made it better. But its payload capacity is still lacking compared to my buddies old Frontier and most of half ton pickups I owned and drove over the years.

To answer the question as much weight as you want .

Although driving might be a little interesting

I haul from 900 to 1200 pounds pretty often. As much as a Ton a few times not more then 100 miles

I have the TSB springs (4leaf) that were installed in 07. I don't know what a full scoop of mulch weighs....but I've done this many times without any problems. I've probably gone a bit beyond that with other yard projects. My truck probably has 1" rake (above level) and I've probably had it 1" below level (if that makes any sense).

400 mile round trip with 900 lbs of pasengers and a bunch of snowboarding gear for a weekend on 3 leaf packs and felt the bump stops many times. Had a slide in camper weighing maybe 1200lbs and rode the bump stops all the way home from picking it up. Ordered Dakars the next day, never hit the stops since.

My 2011 DCLB 4x4 TRD Sport w/ Tow Package is the heaviest possible configuration and mine is 1100. Seems to me everything else would be higher than that at that point.

The door sticker on my 2015 says 1200 pounds. It also has a sticker that says certain modifications reduce payload by 5 pounds. So 1195 payload is what my truck is rated for.

    2015 AC 2.7L 5mt 4x4

Have had about 800 pounds total in it now and it was about 2" lower than when it's empty. But it's brand new.

Ok; wondered about payload too; Looked at configuration in brochure and payload is 1450 for the v6 prerunner. [In 2015 brochure the truck can handle 1500.]
So loaded up with landscaping stones at 1140 pounds with 3/4 tank of gas plus my fat self. Thought it was way under the limit, and then looked a the door sticker said 1160 pounds total. !!!! No problems, a little bit of a wallowing feel but no bottoming out. Only a 5 mile trip....
So just what configuration allows 1450 pounds??? Is it tires/wheels related (mines SR5 package, alloys, 6cyl prerunner with 4 leaf springs)
I assume this is the only variable; that the frame is not at issue. (Add after looking at 3 brochures for '12, '13 and '15 it cannot be an undocumented 'change' or someone is bs'ing...)
Is it possible the sticker is the payload after taking the driver and gasoline into account?
So does anyone have a sticker that is the same or even close to the brochure??
