I had sold my 05 Subaru STi a couple days earlier and I was lucky enough to stumble on this through my brother, who takes photos for Tucson Subaru. He called me all giddy telling me how they have this black Tacoma that has everything I wanted: V6, 4X4, low miles, and a 6-speed! The previous owner was in the Air Force, and had exported it to Germany, and imported it back right before selling. The thing could have easily been sold as a new car when I got it-the guy was extremely meticulous about everything. In the back of the owners manual, he logged all of the servicing that he had done since buying it new in 11. I knew I wanted to black this thing out from day one, and I've always thought a deep red went very well with glossy black. I needed a reliable daily driver that I could take to the trails 12-24 times a year, tow some quads, and get her through some rough terrain.

Thanks! Great looking truck yourself. That colormatched rear bumper looks so fly! That's one definite advantage I see the sports having over the off-roads.

Just put one up...I just recently dipped the emblem black to match the rest. Looked way better than red!

image.jpg image.jpg Plasti-derped my rear bumper today. I think I'm gonna do one more coat to finish it off. This is the last main thing I needed to do to black her out!

Pretty bummed I wasn't able to meet up at Hot Rods with everyone on Saturday, but we sure as hell made up for it yesterday. We originally wanted to go all the way to Peppersauce, but the road after turning left in Reddington was pretty slow moving and not well traveled. It's the service road for that underground gas pipeline that runs for a long way. A service truck would have a real tough time crossing some of those riverbeds. It was the first time I truly needed to go into 4Low and see what A-Trac was all about. Some of these hills climbing out of the riverbeds were very steep with lots of bigger, loose rocks trying to ruin your momentum. Holy balls was I impressed. It just glided up the hill like it was nothing. We brought a couple GoPros, a suction mount and a drone...my roommate is a very talented videographer and editor and as soon as he releases this video, it'll be up here for everyone to enjoy.
Here's a sample of his work from a trip to the White Mountains last year: https://vimeo.com/103457209

Nice truck Phil! Did you ever get those coils in?

Hope you can make one of our Tucson meets soon! Check out the thread for the latest on our run coming up in October.

Thanks Taylor! Saturday is the big day..going to the base's auto shop with Quang to get it done. Never used a legit spring compressor before, that should be a great time.

I've had horrible luck with my schedule and meets lately, but I should be able to make the October shenanigans.

Went a slightly different direction and got OME struts to match the coils. I also balked on the KO2s and went with Hankook Dynapros. Haven't driven enough to see how they are but they're definitely louder than my 265s as expected. Power loss wasn't terrible but noticeable. I won't have any great pics of the setup until this storm passes but here's some teasers with my clearance...image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg
