Yeah, you would think that would manifest itself earlier in the race. Or, if it's an issue that has existed since last year, I would think you would have seen that at Monaco too with the low speed hairpins.

Could be something as simple as the old out lap torque map with the new engine that has more power and torque

Telling the drivers their own fuel level and usage is permitted with the current radio communication rules

Not where , but duration is allowed , for instance , Hamilton's engineer said " we need 50m of lift and coast " meaning he should lift 50m prior to his braking point

They aren't allowed to comment on another driver's fuel use , Rosberg's engineer said he couldn't comment when Rosberg asked about Hamilton's fuel use

The latest Road & Track issue has an article on the new AWD Tesla. They took it to an ice covered track at Lime Rock and lamented about not being able to turn off the nannies and how un-fun it was to drive because they couldn't hoon around at full opposite lock. There was an M5 there with studded tires that was able to hoon sideways, and was passing everything in sight.

The Tesla on non-studded snow tires caught and passed it. Boring but fast. And probably most important of all, safe.

I think I'll hang onto my STi until they pry the keys from my cold dead fingers.

Fuel savings is part of the point these days.
And yet Hamilton's pit told him that Nico was fine on fuel but had to manage brakes, whereas Hamilton was in the opposite condition. I really wondered if that one went over the line. Guess not.

No matter what else I might think about teams, race tactics, etc., I have to admire how Hamilton is really, really dialed in to the car during the race. He drove just fast enough to stay just out of DRS range. Remarkable.

Did anyone hear the interview with Haas principal Guenther Steiner? Talking about spec cars, customer cars, and all the rest, I'd think that interview fits right in. Steiner said the current rules allowed teams to buy components from other teams and that's just what Haas is doing; power unit, electronics, suspension, brakes, all from Ferrari. They're building the chassis and body (read: aero package). He said the car is 70-80% Ferrari, 20-30% Haas.

The driver coaching concernes must not be in the forefront, like how driving with all four over the line on track hasn't been brought up like it was before. On a side note, I like how Grosjean drove into the Manor car and blamed him for it.

I agree, I would like to see them add some laps and time. Not nascar long, but more time on track.

Not sure about seeing them longer. DEFINITELY don't want to see them shorter. That's a bandaid to a larger issue.

The race length is a traditional distance , altering that should not be done to accomodate a short term performance issue . Make the fuel tanks 10KG bigger if need be

This weekends race was 70 laps, 190 miles (305 km), completed by Lewis in 1 hr 31min avg 199 km/hr.
If the race was 400 km it would have been 2 hours.

In some series they race a certain amount of time plus laps.
