I want to know what this interior damage does to my value

I'm gonna sell my truck, 2003 tacoma double cab, and I expect to get about $16,500 for it. I was gutting out my interior for a thorough cleaning when I discovered this. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w298/flare1728/_043007_2146a.jpg
I discovered crushed barbeque packets from KFC that had to be several years old, there is absolutely no smell or indication, and my interior is otherwise flawless. so tell me, does it hurt my overall value?

 

not unless you can replace it. but i really doubt if this will go in your favor. it will make a dent on the value of your taco..

 

They dont look at all of that in detail. You should be good to go.

 

You never know. I suffered a wake up call when I was trading my 2000 VW Passat. This vehicle had been well maintained, in and out. With 84K miles, according to Kelly and Edmonds I should have rec'ed $6.4K for trade in. Prior to accepting my Taco, I stopped by to get a ball park on the value. They had it for an hour when they came back and said $3K for trade in. I looked at them and said "You got to be fecal mattering me?". The reply was...Nope. I thought I would be slick and went to Carmax....same amount. I called the Toyo dealer back and got into hard negotiations, saying I was thinking about backing out, or waiting until I could save the difference they would not cover on the trade. They bumped it to $5.4K. I jumped at it.

That's a dealer.....if your selling privately......depends on how hard the buyer is looking.

I don't think it will hurt you too bad, but $16.5K is a bit steep around here. I almost got an 04 DoubleCab TRD 4WD Auto w/ 85k miles for $15K here in Texas (Then I realized I didn't need that much truck). If you drop it to $15K and sell it privately, it might go fast.

It kinda hurts you that they are giving good incentives right now on brand new trucks.

 

I originally was looking to buy a used Taco but found that it wasn't much more for a brand new one. One of the first I looked at was a 01 4x4 access cab with 85K and they were asking 16 for it. There was also a 04 dbl cab prerunner with 30k and they were asking for 20, so I think if his truck is in good condition and he sells privately he could get 16. Those high resale values are what convinced me to buy a Taco. After all I sold an 01 Ram with a dented tail gate, dented fender and a cracked dash for 10.5 .

I guess I really don't pay much for things. I am a stickler with my money. I get to actually have some for retirement then (YEAH RIGHT!).

 

Well, it did have low miles <40K. I'm the same way with my money, of course I don't have much of it .

Good point. I got a steal on my Tacoma, but it was also not 4WD. I am starting to regret that decision.

 

Why regret that. You don't really need it you live in an area that gets no snow, ices maybe once a year but when it ices everything closes down, and all your driving so far has be highway between Houston and San Antonio. I think you made the right choice for your truck. I thought I may have regretted not getting a 4X4 but now I'm happy I didn't, it looks cool and would be fun but I just wouldn't use it enough. Maybe in a few years I'll get a beater truck with 4x4 to tear up on trails.

 

I am looking for one of these right now! A 95 Taco reg cab 2.7L 4WD would be perfect. Gimme Gimme!!!

I only regret the 4WD because I drive up in the hill country and I am looking for real property out there (4 acres or more). I would use a 4WD for the floods (which equal lots of mud) and for maintaining the land. Not to mention for 4 wheelin in New Mexico and Colorado when I go visit my wife's family !!!

 

Here is a really good stain remover trick for red wine in might work with your stain also. 50% hydrogen peroxide and 50 % oxyclean rug cleaner. Spilled red wine on a brand new rug and my wife put this on the rugs. The stain dissapeared. I t had been dried for two days. It did not damage the rug at all. It was a burbur rug tan in color.
