I looked at some old threads and I know that ceramic is apparently the way to go. I have a 2015 Tacoma double cab and just needed to know if anyone can tell me what brand of window tint to use or stay away from. I know next to nothing about different types of window tint so any other advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm sure someone else will chime in, but i used Google and researched that way. I came across a couple tint forums with your similar question with good answers. I ended up finding a shop that uses Llumar so I went with them. I had them match my back windows with 20%, and im happy.

I did the same and found Llumar as a popular brand as well. If you've got it and you're happy with it, that's good enough for me. My last truck was an F-150 and the tint started to bubble after about 4 years. I don't know what kind it was but it was done by a reputable business in Waco, TX so i'm a bit skittish. I just want it done right and be done with it. Thank you!

What are you trying to do? Match the back windows? Stay legal? Limo tint all around?

I've tinted all my taco's. The best bet is to find a tinter that has good reviews and utilizes brands like 3M, etc. The mistake people make is trying to stick to one brand or a certain type, when you should focus on what matches the factory tint best and that may not necessarily be 3M ceramic, etc. But quality is still important as well. This is where a skilled, reputable tinting place comes in

X2. The last time I tinted my windows a few years ago I had no idea what the shop put on other than they told me it was 20%. Because of the amount of light the windshield let's in, whatever brand tint they used did not match my back windows and it was noticeably lighter at pretty much every angle. This time around, I read somewhere that Llumar 20% matches toyota factory tint pretty well, so i gave it a shot. I'd have to agree.

My goal is to stop so much heat from getting in and to protect the interior. Of course the back cab windows and the back glass are already smoked so I would like the tint to match all the way around but as long as it's close, that's fine. I don't really want Limo tint. I honestly don't really want it too dark. I'd rather have a good vision at night when i'm trying to look behind me or check my blind spot, so not too dark.

Thanks for the reply usa. I'm not stuck on a particular brand. I will keep 3M in mind. I know that's a name that's been around for a long time so i don't have any doubts about 3M. I agree, I just want quality. I will try to find a good reputable business.

Thank you ada. That's another vote for Llamar. That helps. Thank you.

Congrats. If you stay on this site long enough, you'll soon realize there's no such thing as "a few mods".

Well it's all done. Went with 3M Color Stable 35% all the way around. It was $190. Not sure if that's a good deal but it was so much cheaper than ceramic. I got back in the truck this afternoon after 90 degree heat and I could already tell a big difference. I'm happy with it so far.
