I'm still debating exactly what my plans are for my truck. Unless I got lied to I didn't see anyway from the dealer to get the TRD OR package that didn't include the chrome grill surround.

Should I just spend the money to get the color matched one that comes on the TRD Sport? Or plasti Dip the surround? I already have plans on using plasti dip on the badges when time permits.

Plastidip looks like shit on grill surrounds IMO.. go color match or leave it chrome. The only thing that should be that black on the front end is the inside of the grill and the lower valance, when you make the entire grill black and the body color isn't black, it throws off the whole front aesthetic..

Camelback toyota sell them for $189. I live by Camelback but the dealer closer sold me one for $169 out the door. I sold my chrome for $125 a week later on craigslist.

Just buy one, I ended up spending $45 for a brand new color matched grill surround straight from Toyota.

Or you could just paint it yourself. It's not that hard. Dupli-color has color matched paint for most colors. I did mine in a day.20150503_182016.jpg

Appreciate the quick answers! I think I will just go with the color match option.

I'm wanting to get rid of the chrome look as well but just couldn't bring myself to derp it. I think that color matching is the way to go.

I just got off the phone with my local toyota dealership and they said it will cost $316.96 for one
Forget That. Time to call elsewhere or paint it myself.

You can find them online for under $200, lot of dealerships sell on eBay complete painted grills. Most are $180-$190 shipped to your door.

I just removed the derp from my grill last week. I'm thinking about rhino lining it and the lower valance. I have a friend that can do it for me.

Yep, that's where I got mine on Ebay from Camel back. I think I paid 170.00 but I'd have to look back. It was much less expensive then going directly to dealer parts, and its still brand spanking new.

If you change the chrome grill to color match...the headlights will have to be changed to a tinted set. Especially on darker color trucks.

Buy an OEM color matched grill, buy a bare OEM grill and paint it, buy a cheap $60 aftermarket grill and paint it, or strip the stock chrome and paint it. Just don't paint over chrome. It just doesn't work. Initially it will look great but eventually, no matter what, it will end up looking like total low budget amateur crap. Your friends and neighbors and strangers on the street will ridicule you. And all you will be able to do is hang your head in shame knowing you had been warned.
