That's the kind of golf I like!

I'm getting a plate bumper and considering all options for finishing. Can't seem to figure out what the best option is, everyone seems to have their choice of finish, I just want something that's durable that I can do.

I know! I went through and completely washed/clayed/waxed/sealed my truck (stupid decision to clay without polishing, yay for micromarring) on Thursday and I had to keep the garage closed to wax to keep the pollen buildup down to get a coat of sealant on it. The STi is a nice shade of grayish yellow from the garage dust from the winter and the pollen.

I know at some point the powdercoat will need maintenance too, since you've done both what's your recommendation?

Well because I wheel my trucks . Rattle can is easier to touch up and it's cheap . So more money on cool stuff . But if I was trying to make my truck pretty I'd go with the powdercoat.

I know, I know, but I needed a half ton.

The sliders have been working out well.. They are just low enough for the little lady to step on before she steps in.. I usually just step over them. I'm sure she would be happier with a something lower, but they work well for what we need.

Morning all. At the airport in Milan early since my wife had to catch a train back to Florence at 0700 to get back to working for the rest of the week. Been here since about 0645, flight isn't until 1300. Tried to hop on an earlier flight to Heathrow where I have a connection later today(there were a ton of open seats on multiple earlier fights), bit since I used American Airlines miles to get the tickets, and I'm flying British airlines back apparently they can't change the ticket. I looked at the lady and said if it was an American Flight they could do it since I've done it multiple times before including on fights I've used miles for. She was like nope can't do it since this is British airlines. I thought the giant One World merger was supposed to make traveling on any of the partners like traveling on your normal airline, but apparently not...

I had BAMF sliders on my taco at the standard 15 or 20 deg angle. Wife hated them since they weren't much lower than the door sill she had a hard time using then as steps. I'll second the previous statements: if you get sliders get them at 0-5deg angle. At that they aren't going to be as low as steps, but much better than the standard angled slider.

As far as the frame, multiple vendors now make true 100% bolt on for 2nd gens. BAMF and SOS cone to mind. Do no drilling required. Also, even if you did drill the frame I doubt toyota would notice. I had to drill 2 holes/side on my first gen for my bamf bolt on sliders. When I took then off to sell you could barely notice they were there. Your frame has so many holes in it from the factory they'd never notice.

SOS slider are indeed 100% bolt on. They are solid to. I saw a picture on Eddys slider thread of a truck being completely supported on one side with a high lift by the bolt ons. Eddy also has an option for a bolt on step if needed.

Any of you fellers ever deal with chimney repair? I posted in the Home Improvement thread but not sure if anyone around here has dealt with it before. I have a gap between my chimney and roof line due to a siding replacement on the house in previous times. Not sure on the best way to deal with it - seeing if its something I can do without calling in a professional.

Can you post a picture of it? Sounds like you need some flashing to close the gap. It can be done on your own as long as you have access and are comfortable working off a ladder.

Yeah, it takes a little bit of patience but the process isn't terrible. Just cut into the joint with an angle grinder, place the flashing and seal in place. The materials are really cheap, it's tough to make it look good but fairly easy to make it functional.

Here is a picture (same gap on the other side). The chimney sits flush against the house the entire way down to the foundation base. For some reason when they redid the siding, this gap was ignored and is now a bat hotel.

    20150607_143452_zpsogltftwd_4146de9bc0a397518c2fbf0b385e618abd90ce4a.jpg

The chimney goes flush against the corner beading just below the frame of the picture. When we bought the house, I had the chimney inspected and it is structurally sound and not leaning to a point of concern. Again, just a weird situation and not really sure the best way to deal with it. If need be, I can step back and take a picture of the whole get up from the ground, just wanted to photograph this guy when I was up there painting the shutters.
