So, say you order a lift kit for your truck in the store/shop. It gets to the store/shop in a few days, and the shop cant squeeze you in for a couple weeks to get it installed. So its sitting in the shop until your install date.

Is it paranoia to think that "man!!! Those bastards at the shop are swapping my brand new parts out with older used ones and wont tell me because i dont know no better anyways" etc...you see where im getting at?

I mean, you wont know what they installed from your kit...it just sucks to think like that and not have faith in humanity? Or nah?

    Lol kinda...

some of this, a little of that
If you have that little of faith in the shop, I wouldn't let them touch my truck to begin with.

I have no history with the shop. They have a decent rating on yelp and are nationwide.

Its just one of those things you wonder i guess...

    You have a few options:

    1) go pay for the kit, pick it up and keep it with you until install date

    2) have them show you the kit before they install it and watch them install it

    3) go to a different shop

Um yeah...you might want to wear a tin foil hat to keep the voices out amigo... it is completely normal for good shops to be booked out a few weeks. I don't mean to be rude by saying this but if you feel like you couldn't tell old used parts from new parts after they are installed you should definitely do some homework, anything aftermarket will look very different than OE components. ...or if the tin foil hat doesn't work just go pay for your parts and bring them home until the install ?

Thats what i was thinking (not the tin foil hat) to pick up the parts and bring with to the install date.

And im sure i can point out the obvious as far as the main parts of the lift kit, but a part can be cleaned up, or faulty and still look new.

I guess im doing too much (thinking that is)

the day I put 100% trust into an automotive shop, is the day pigs fly. that's pretty much how it is...and I don't have time to learn the trade myself, im already on a career path. plus, im doing it because the lift kit warranty is only valid if an authorized dealer/shop installs it which helps if I decide to sell it within 5 years.

I know how to work on my cars, trucks, motorcycles, and do anything I need to get done to them.

But the shop I go to when I need something done with a lift, I trust 100% and I've been going to him for 13 years. Good shop owners are easy to trust.

some of this, a little of that
What's to say the company you bought the lift from didn't sell you one that was returned to them first for some reason? :stirthepot: :tinfoilhat:

well, shop and company that sells lift are the same...but hey, there is that chance, but imo I wouldn't compare that to parts sitting in the shop for 2 weeks awaiting install...
