Today, I allowed my windshield to be broken by an rock thrown out of the bed of an 18 wheeler that didn't have it's cover properly installed. :/

I do.. I am a reptile (snake) breeder. I use my Tacoma to get me out in the desert and mountains and back home. socalherps.com
That is a California King snake which is harmless. In fact they eat rattlesnakes. Not Venomous at all.

Removed my fender flares again cause I like the look better... Someday I'll get the rocker panels and fenders bed lined and stop all my paint chipping. Until then, let the chipping continue!
Also used a hammer on my truck for the first time to beat some metal.

I can think of several reasons. He might just be into snake watching there's several rare species in CA.

He might also be catching them and selling them illgealy (I highly doubt this ad he'd not be posting about it and dose not strike as that kind of person) I did not know about this hobby and its related illegal activities until I saw an episode of Wild Justice the game warden was a a snake watcher in his spar time in this show he was looking for the people that catch them to sell them. He had a fake radio controlled snake if you tried more than just looking he busted you.
