My 9.5" Diamond was $4700. There are other options on a budget build. Occasionally you will see "new" military surplus dana 60's for sale cheap out of CUCV's (Army version of the 80's era Chevy pickup). Full floater, 4.56 gears, and a detroit locker in them. They are heavy though. Like everyone else said, a junkyard 9" is your best bet, if you can find one.

Me thinks that would be a tad too heavy, no?

Funny the talk about the currie 9" housing with the FJ outters since it took me 6 months to unload that exact housing. Finally ended up letting it go for $250, that was with calipers, rotors, trussed, setup for spring under. I thought it was going to eventually end up in the trash with the luck I was having trying to get that thing out of my garage. Someone got a smoking deal!!!! It only needed one axle shaft and a 3rd member to be a complete gen 1 bolt in spring under setup.

I need some advice, I am getting ready to have a 3 link kit made for my truck. I have a DBCB short bed so the room for a shock hoop for the CO is really tight on the drivers side by the OE gas filler and vent tubes etc. I have read discussions on here around needing to maintain the OE fuel tank and a lot of the associated components for CA inspection BS but does that include the actual OE filler neck etc or is it o.k to relo and / or extend those make room for a CO inside there as long as everything at the tank stays OE ? It is my DD so yeah I need to make sure it will still pass inspection.

As long as it doesn't leak on the pressure test, you'll be fine. I passed like this once-

69.5" wms to wms and all anyone would've had to do was probably redo the spring perches to fit it to a 2nd gen. It had some plug/sensor deal out between the flange and the axle shaft on each side where I'm assuming an ABS wire plugged into. Not sure though, never used it. I stripped our truck down bare of all that luxurious stuff...

It has ALL of that FJ bracketry on it when we got it to put under the truck. I had a LOT of time into cutting all those mounts and stuff off to get it bare so I could set it up for what we needed.

It needed some cleanup but nothing major and would've been great under a play truck. We stepped up to something bigger though just to be safe.

Like I said, I sold what you see in the picture above for $250 about a month ago. Needed one axle shaft and the third member. Now the truck is sitting on this...

I was able to get mine to fit no problem just had to rework how the vent line. Fits the filler perfectly too. 2.5 coil over and 3.0 triple bypass stuffed in there

Cool thx guys, I can rework the hoses easily I honestly just didn't know if that one one of the obtuse BS CARB things that you had to worry about for inspection.

Sure if you would have mentioned/posted it here it would have sold quicker and for more. I would have made a project out of it.

With newer cars all they care about is the OBDII reading and gas cap seal. My filler neck is in the bed and I pass no problem.

    So I'm working on a 95 4Runner doing a 3.4 swap.

The 3.4 has a nice set of Doug thorley headers which do not fit the older frames. They have the carb OE tag for California.

Rather than cut them up I'm looking to trade and maybe $500? for stock 2001-2004 exhaust manifolds and crossover.

Trying here because everyone is more local

    Hit me up if interested,

Yeah obo, think they are like $650ish new? The ones I have haven't been run, just mounted on the 3.4 I bought.
They do not have the external egr mount.
