I have the factory steel wheels with the Duncraps and I found a guy selling a set of 4 michelin ltx ms2 on factory alloy wheels for $400. He says the tread is at 8/32. Is this a good deal? Does 8/32 of tread still have a lot of life left? Would be going from the stock duncraps 245/75/16 to 265/70/16. They only thing i would need to buy is tpms for the wheels.

I would never buy used tires unless they are new take offs. I would much rather buy a brand new set from Discount and buy the certs and enjoy a complete warranty. For a couple hundred more you can have a new set of tires and have no worries.

I would agree with you too but I just saw that I left out something. I also wanted to get rid of my factory steels and wanted the factory aluminum rims. I think I got a good deal. I will run them through summer and in the fall purchase new ones. He works at discount tire is going to install the new tpms and balanced them for me for free.

I believe tread depth on new tires is around 12/32's... so the tires you are purchasing have about half their useful life left.

New LTX MS2's will run you close to $1000 so $400 is probably about par for tires with half their treat life gone. What do the sidewalls look like? Any cracking?
