Seems from what I'm gathering in this thread a inno rack mounted in the door frame of my 09 tacoma double cab would be able to handle a tepui tent. Correct?

What's the weight capacity of your rack? Figure 100lbs. for the average RTT and then the weight of the occupants plus any gear you haul up there overnight. Factor in some movement while in the tent.

Unless these are really solid mounts (I am not familiar with the set up) I would exercise caution. My fat ass, wife, and gear plus tent is close to 500lbs. on a solid bed rack that goes down to the frame bolts.

    Just my thoughts.

Just spent another 2 nights in the RTT. Starting to get the set up and take down figured out but the travel cover is a PITA. Having it a foot higher makes a huge difference!

I was thinking of getting a little boom lift and towing that with me :notsure:
But yes, I have a step ladder to help me reach.

just a flurry of standing in the doorways, holding onto the OSH with one hand and grabbing the zippers or whatever with the other, then onto the stepladder to get to the back side of the tent (stupid, worthless "spoiler" is in the way), then to the other door, and again and again...

unloading all of my bedding and crap is easy now though.....open sun roof, throw shit down into front seats. no more trips up the ladder for that at least!

not if there's any moisture/condensation on the tent. the fly was pretty wet both yesterday and today (left camp pretty early). made the mistake the first year i had the tent of leaving my stuff in there after it had rained all night. set up camp the next night and everything was soaked. during the day everything had warmed up, the rain on the fly evaporated and since it couldn't escape the cover the moisture seeped into everything. my sleeping bag was damp and i was lucky i didn't freeze that night. packed up after that 2nd night and kept my bag in the cab of the truck with the defrosters on full blast trying to get it dry as i had a 3rdr night to spend on hte trip and didn't want to freeze again.

yes. that keeps the moisture from building up under the mattress while you're in there but it doesn't do anything to stop the rain from hitting the tent or the dew from collecting under the fly. any moisture on the tent when you close it up will eventually turn to vapor and will seep into everything inside and out while its packed away

Tepui Fest was so worth it. Great band (Thrive!), great food, great beer (there's a brewery next to HQ), and cheap. I'd totally go again.

Another thought, you can attach a c clamp in the center. Then stick a 2x4 under the clamp and pry from the edge. You may need to get another person and pry from the other edge at the same time. make sure to use something so you're not prying against that rib.

you have any pics of that Autana closed up on the bed rack? Trying to see if it's true to a 12" closed height or maybe more. Anybody got real measurements of a Autana closed height? Tepui says 12" and my garage parking is just about 12" above my Pelfreybilt bed rack.....Getting a little nervous about that......Thanks anyone!!

I haven't measured the true height but u would assume they have it pretty accurate. It could also change with what you have in it and how tight you pack it. I have it pulled off right now but I can take measurements tomorrow for you. But if you're pushing 12 inches that's just asking for troubles in my opinion. Expensive toy to have smack into something.

here is the clearance I'm working with. Its right at 12" for my garage parking. If some of you can post some closed up pics with a tape measure to show true height of the RTT stowed away, that would be great before I drop $1800 on one of these.

12" won't quite be enough room. Most all Tepui tents are about 12" high when closed but that doesn't include the ladder which adds a couple more inches. And that's with the telescoping ladder that is lower profile. Other brands that use the sliding ladder will add more like 4-5" on top of the tent height.
