To start off with some backround, I went wheelin with a couple of members a couple of weeks ago. While we were out there we came across a burning tree. Long story short I thought I was it would be funny if i bumped the tree to make it fall thinking that my brush guard would connect first...lesson learned, not a great idea. Here's the damage.

As you can see not only did the paint chip but it also burned the bumper. So what should I do?
I washed it the other day and the hose started stripping more paint. Any thoughts?

    Basically two choices:

    1. First class repair at body shop -remove bumper cover, sand, repaint, and reinstall. $1000+

    2. DIY quality repair. Sand it out, use a tiny bit of filler, sand it again, feather the edges, and use auto store touch up primer and a can of touch up paint. You'll still be able to see the repair, but depending on how good a job you do, it can camouflage really well.

First course of action seek help from mental health professional. Who in their right mind deliberately crashes into a burning anything.

You were right. It is funny. Only course of action is to buy a Pelfreybilt front plate.

I dont think they make first gen products. Could be wrong tho, was thinking of just ditching the bumper and try to find someone to help me fabricate it.

Sorry, thought the solution was obvious. Buy a 2015 2nd gen before the 3rd gens ruin the Tacoma name!

Is that really paint on the lower valence on the bumper? Looks more like plasti-dip to me :notsure:

Leave burning trees to Smokey the Bear. Good luck with the repair.

Sorry for your damage.. but I have to ask, why was the tree burning, and did you put the fire out?

Sincerely hoping you and your trail mates didn't light something on fire while wheeling, except fires in camp, but admittedly this story sounds a bit too much like a "HOLD MY BEER, WATCH THIS" kind of thing.

Hold my beer, watch me reply about burning trees to someone online wondering about how to fix a repair from hitting said tree.
