If we had a RT simplex freq on 2M that would've helped a bit. I know our group did great with a dedicated simplex freq.

    glad you came and helped.

Moral of the story is choose your wheeling people wisely, because I sure didn't.

Damn sorry you had that experience... I heard about your breakage, but didn't know you stayed up there or I'd have rounded up a few to help you out.

Unfortunately you're right, you do have to pick your wheeling partners wisely I learned that as well, just not in the same manner as you

Ryan, we had a blast wheeling with you & Sharon (we always do!) and we are so sorry your truck broke down on the trail. As you know Pete's truck was broken down too & we had already committed to help fix it early Saturday morning. Nonetheless, we made additional plans to get your rig out & fix it late Saturday morning & even reached out to our Total Chaos contact to help bring the parts in for you overnight, but it ended up being too expensive to go that route & you were able to find them elsewhere cheaper.

Even with the delay of getting the parts-we were ready to help Saturday, early afternoon, yet it took longer than expected for you to return from picking up the parts & by the the time you returned, we were required to be back at BFE to prep the food & set up for the event we had committed to help with. We reached out to several other TW members asking for help on your behalf, but no one we spoke to was available to help at that time. Instead, we offered to help Sunday, but with your own time constraints that wasn't doable for you either.

Please know that we did and always do our very best to help anyone in need & would have loved to have done more, but our hands were tied. We do look forward to wheeling with you guys again!! :)

You sure are crying a lot. Just call them out or pm them and say fuck you and get it out of your system or let it go and be a grown up. Making a blanket statement like this below will sure piss off a lot of folks that I'm sure had no fucking clue where you were or that you needed help. I wasnt even there and it bothers me that you have the audacity to basically say "fuck all y'all at RT this year that didn't help me." Real mature man. You just sound like a baby.

Here's how the reasoning went for me: Breaking down in a remote area (which happened, was just able to limp out) can result in an expensive tow. And then replacing parts that are going to break again. Not to mention ruining a trip that you may have spent a lot of time & money getting to do.

Why not take that money and put it toward something more robust?

On that note does anyone know where I can get a cheap passenger drop front Dana 60? :)

Your situation sucked...bad spot to break that hard. Not many ways to get a truck off the trail without a new LCA though, especially considering there was no 'easy' way out.

Not the hardest spot that for sure but not the easiest either. Had I been there I could have got him off trial with what I had in my toolbox then we could have trailered it back to camp and fixed it but I wasn't in his group and had new trails to explore/ Pinch seat on.

In all honesty I was pretty tired from everything that had gone on but we heard his wife was from Idaho and we don't leave Idaho tail on the trail.

Yeah Eric and I both sat in town that afternoon trying to see if you would respond to your post after we reached out so we could figure out how to help. I don't think it's fair to say no one was willing to help you. I am sorry we didn't have a way to communicate better but I posted multiple times about 2 meter being better, and even shared a link for a cheapo setup maybe next year we could contact a local club and use a local repeater to rag chew/communicate

Only thing that may be of a concern is that I believe the 2 repeaters in the Moab area are linked to the entire E side of the state repeater network.

It once took us a month to recover a buddies 4runner from a trail. 8/10 rock crawling trail, in a canyon, no early exits or bypasses. Luckily that also means it sees very low traffic.

It was far away enough from home that we could only really make it out on weekends.

First he burned out a clutch. I broke trying to drag him out (stock birfs). Had to abandon his rig, and pull the birfs in the dark since they were jamming the steering. Just made it out beating hard in 2wd. 1am.

Attempted to replace his clutch the next weekend, but O'Reillys sold me the wrong one. I replaced his clutch the following weekend. Immediately blew out a rear drive shaft. Attempted to winch out, front wheel drive only. Broke the winch. Got my longfields in and tried to tow out the exit. No joy. Nearly go my truck stuck again. Eventually got another drive shaft in and drove out.

    Definitely type 2 fun.

Not the most comfortable spot to change a clutch:

We've since run that trail with no issue.

Don't get sucked into this farce. I was also in this group. I saw 4 people on their phones trying to find parts. Everyone did everything possible to help. Even John B. from All Pro stayed around to see if he could be of some help. We took all of his important stuff out of the truck and hauled it all back to camp. Tyler even got with me back at camp to ensure I had taken care of the tool box that I had. We had a lengthy conversation about what we could do to help get him off the trail, but unfortunately, there was no way to get him off the trail without a control arm. Lauren and myself kept watch on the Tacoma World thread to see if he posted up that he needed further help. He left a message that people responded to but left no contact information.
Anyone that knows me, knows that I will leave no one behind. I've gone out of my way to rescue several people on this thread.
To question anyone's integrity on this issue is BS!
